America First!!

President Donald Trump acknowledged a $20 billion bailout for Argentina would not primarily serve American interests, testing the patience of domestic farmers who have yet to receive their own relief from Trump’s trade war. https://wapo.st/3W5xdg0

Q: How is this rescue package America first?

TRUMP: It's really meant to help a good financial philosophy where Argentina can be successful again

US military paid salary by an individual Trump donor

Trump: "I had a very wealthy person who called -- a donor, a great gentleman -- and he said, 'if there's any money necessary, shortfall, for the paying of the troops, then I will pay it.' Meaning he will pay it. How about that?"

I thought the power of the purse was specifically legislated to Congress by the Constitution of the United States of America??

Trump: "The funding for New York, and for every place, comes through the White House. And I'm very generous, and I was always very generous with New York. But I wouldn't be generous to a communist that's gonna take the money and throw it out the window."

Gop house members starting to protest their own party

Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-Calif.) came to the Capitol on Tuesday to protest his party's approach to the government shutdown.

Simple: States have the right to redistrict. So yes, Texas should be able to redistrict and so should CA...and so should NC.

Gerrymandering is ugly, but nothing new. But redistricting does not necessarily equal Governor Gerry's salamander.

Steross- "So, what do you think should happen?"
JT: "States have the right to redistrict."

Umm, thanks.

I'm sure the next time there is a tax increase proposed by a democrat your response to if you think it should happen will be "Simple, governments have the right to assess taxes."

You asked if CA should be able to respond. I answered that.
Redistricting and taxation are both state rights. I would absolutely not want my state to raise taxes. However, I would certainly be against the federal government affecting the state's right to tax their own state citizens.

tRump is learning as he goes...it would be like me playing chess...move, no you can´t do that...move, no you can´t do that...move, you can´t do that, but we´ll let it slide this time...

National Black Farmers Association President: We're in a crisis here in this country. We're losing farms at a record number, and I just sat there and watched Speaker Johnson talk about the Nobel Peace Prize when he should be talking to Democratic leaders about how to get this country open and functioning.

Sorry, I made the actual question obvious to everyone on the board but you.

Do you get your rocks off being so obtuse and unhelpful all the time? You know what I actually asked as it was the very first sentence. You always avoid and distract instead of just being honest with your opinions. Why even post at all? Are you embarrassed of your true opinions? Do you get a weird pleasure from appearing to take a side in a political debate, then lying to make it seem that you aren't taking a side?

This is a place for opinions. None of it matters, no policymaker comes here looking for anyone's sage advice. But, It is odd behavior to post repeatedly, imply a position, then do purposefully irritating posts to avoid giving your opinion at all. Like buying season tickets in Norman, putting on red, going to the games, then claiming you aren't OU fan, or even a football fan at all and are just observing the game as you whine about the refs calls against OU. Ok, sure, whatever.

PS: Everyone else, I have NO expectation of any sort of reasonable response.

Translation.... this is Trump's way of shopping the Olympics and World Cup Games around to the Highest Bidder.

You want the Games in your Home State or Stadium??/

Make the Right size donation to Trump's Library or Some sort of Massive Gift

Trump will claim those cities are too dangerous and move them to where you want.

Do we get it now how he is using the govt to con the crap out of everyone ??

I answered your question and the original question from a poster that was apparently unaware why states were redistricting. Answering someone’s direct question about a news issue does not require an opinion. If you have a need for someone’s opinion on an issue provide yours upfront. But I provided my opinion - gerrymandering is ugly and more states are going to do it. Not sure what more is needed there…but I’ll add the fact that we have Trump and Obama involved with this is not ideal, but not unexpected from those two.

Going by your previous views, my guess is you and JDifferent are bothered by TX and NC redistributing, but somehow not bothered by California or Illinois redistricting.

Predictable. 🥱

Senior Trump Admin Adviser Michael Bartels who serves as a Senior Advisor in the US Small Business Administration’s general counsel office appears in participants in Young Republicans Telegram Racists chat

Trump Officials Linked To Politico's Young Republicans Telegram Chat Bombshell

A Politico exposé revealing months of vile messages in a private Young Republicans Telegram chat names Michael Bartels, a senior adviser in the US Small Business Administration’s general counsel office, among participants tied to intra-party infighting. Bartels’ role in the leaked logs is limited, but a notarized affidavit he provided tells a different story.

A trove of Telegram messages published by Politico this week has thrust a new generation of Republican operatives into the spotlight, and one name in the logs has drawn attention inside the federal government: Michael Bartels. Politico reports Bartels works as a senior adviser in the Office of General Counsel at the U.S. Small Business Administration, and while he does not appear to be a prolific author of the worst messages, he is listed among participants in the “RESTOREYR WAR ROOM” chat. Bartels declined to comment directly to reporters, Politico says, but he supplied a notarized affidavit disputing how the chat was obtained and describing internal pressure tied to party politics.

Maybe give an example of my "previous views" where I was ok with something but "somehow" not bothered when the other side did the exact same thing. I'd love to see it.

And, you are wrong, as typical. I am bothered by Texas redistricting for partisan reasons to grant the president's authoritarian desires. Everything else, including the actions of all other states and people like Obama weighing in, are the law of unintended consequences. Show me Obama or any other democrat advocating mid-term redistricting prior to Trump's call on Texas, and I will change my mind.

Most of us know there is a huge difference between punching someone in the face and punching someone in the face after they just punched you for no good reason. But, it is clear that you don't.

He is going turn the tourney into a complete "S" show. Can we please move it to Canada and Mexico.

It's also gonna look bad as our guys go 0-3 on the home turf.

"President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to relocate World Cup matches set to be played next year in Boston, parts of which he'd suggested had been "taken over" by recent unrest. Trump has previously suggested he could declare cities "not safe" for the tournament and alter a detailed hosting plan that FIFA confirmed in 2022.

World Cup host sites aren't up to Trump as the 11 U.S. cities — plus three in Mexico and two in Canada — are contracted with FIFA, which would face logistical and legal issues to make changes before the June 11 kickoff."

So you are okay with tit for tat …as long as you think it is the Democrats that acted afterward??? C’mon. First, that is horrible to parse actions and be okay with one, but not the other (more of its (d)ifferent). This is just more hypocrisy (that would be like MAGA being okay with Trump going after Letitia James, but mad she went after him) .
But second, for this redistricting issue it shows you know little of very recent history, and how it plays into the North Carolina issue.

The Democrats formed the National Democratic Redistricting Commission in 2017 —- with Eric Holder as the Chair and Obama publicly stating he would be involved. The Republicans quickly launched the National Republican Redistricting Trust later that same year in response.

The NDRC has a history of filing lawsuits against state’s district maps (in 2021 against Ohio and North Carolina among others…..hmmm - wonder why NC is trying to redistrict).

Sounds like the NDRC first punched North Carolina in the face and now North Carolina is punching back. So, can we all assume that at least for North Carolina that you are on North Carolina’s side?
