So why didn't they pass it through say FY 26? I thought that last one was supposed to be longer term.
Also why all the uproar over the last bill (aside from politics as usual). If Im a dem congressman and I truly believe the past one would cause pain but only temporary I would have said go for it guys and made sure to remind my constituents who was responsible when I was campaigning for 2026.
Congress cannot pass multi-year budget bills. This year's bill went through the reconciliation process I believe (this year feels longer than most with the craziness so I may be misremembering), so didn't need dem support, and I'm sure that's what they're campaigning on.
The BBB also has some additional long-term funding/tax impacts in addition to just being a FY25 budget bill, so it wasn't completely a 6 month impact thing.
