Takes one to know one

The cost of living in America is projected to rise because of President Trump’s latest round of tariffs and that’s a political problem for the president and Republican lawmakers in Washington, who campaigned in 2024 on bringing down the cost of groceries and other staples, a message that resonated strongly with voters.

Trump has decided there will be no tariff on gold imports. What? You can't eat gold. What next? Silver? How about keeping tariffs off of imported food, along with tea and coffee? Trump loves gold too dang much.

I'm getting sick of Newsom's all hat, no cattle social media grandstanding.

Do something real to fight this illegality or STFU.

Hes just getting his brand out there for 2028. Because that's what everyone wants to see. A presidential candidate who likes to play like the one we have now...

If it ends up being him and Vance/Trump Jr in 2028 it will be 100% because not enough of us learned our lesson the past decade.

We are nearing the point of no return, if not there already. Trump and co. do not care about laws, because there have been zero repercussions for breaking them. At this point, they are just "suggestions".

I don't see a way out of this other than a military coup. Which isn't going to happen, because all of the heads have been replaced by loyalists.
The one thing I keep thinking is if they plan on giving up power why did they do everything humanly possible to hold onto it last time they had office?

white house deputy chief of staff stephen miller: washington dc “is more violent than baghdad, it is more violent than parts of ethiopia, and parts of many of the most dangerous places in the world.”

I'm not quite where you are.

I see the Rs losing badly in the midterms (barring extreme gerrymandering or other cheating). What happens when he has a congress that does their job instead of cowering in fear of him will give us a hint at how bad it really is.

Everyone knows how I voted... what I was really hoping for was split government, Republicans taking the House and Senate and Harris the White House. I thought that was the most likely outcome. I think splitting the government in the midterms is the second best outcome. But I don't think it's going to happen. The Democrats haven't shown any inkling of moderating their worst impulses that cost them in 2024. They still hate my parents and they're vocal about it.

How do you know? Its sort of to your point but I cant name any democratic policy right now other than Trump bad. They aren't wrong but unless things just tank in the next 12 months I don't see how turning into a referendum on Trump has the impact in 2026 they are hoping for. I mean, do we really want to see another impeachment knowing it won't go anywhere in the Senate?

I don't know anything. I'm just guessing. I said in this forum I thought Trump would lose. I was wrong. Don't listen to me.

Its almost a certainty.

Yea, I’m no pundit who figures this stuff out either. I think they lose the midterms because I think independents aren’t fans of the cruel immigration practices and the tariffs. But, you are right that the dems aren’t shining some grand beacon to sway them over.

Hegseth says the National Guard will work as "force multipliers" in DC and adds, "this is what the American people voted for"

When you justify it by saying this is what the American people voted for there is a 95% chance this isn't what they voted for. I don't remember military intervention into local issues coming up in the debates
