Couple of things here.
It’s like they are continuously probing to see where the bounds of constraint from the norms and institutions will be. They know on most issues the majority of the public will be against them. They are even starting to go underwater on handling of immigration although some Magastani’s are fine as long as those “dang illegals” are being rounded up. But they need to keep that solid 25-33 percent of core support no matter what they do.
I’m not sure this is about distracting from Powell. I think it’s distracting from Epstein. A podcaster I listen to just adds “Epstein” to the end of every issue Trump uses this way.
I think the Powell issue is huge and he will use it as a discourse change away from Epstein. It is one of a few issues that will grab all the headlines and lead ins and initially could last several days depending on how he would move forward if he fires him. I can believe he didn’t do it Thursday or Friday.
Wouldn't surprise me if he forgets that he doesn't like Powell and tries to fire Hillary Clinton.
That boy’s cheese has slid completely off the cracker. He’s at the very least suffering from the worst case of CRS I’ve ever witnessed since Reagan couldn’t remember the Iran/Contra scam, OR, he can’t remember the multitude of his hourly lies and how regularly & swiftly the TACO changes. Surprise surprise, surprise. Remember, tRump loves “the uneducated”. Sadly it’s not just the MAGAstanis that are clueless. Destructive Donald is not through destroying all norms, traditions, and laws thank’s to the most political Supreme Court in history. To these people removing Powell is just the next step to achieving the kingdom for this frighteningly dangerously unstable clown. We won’t recognize this country when they’re though. But I hope the remains are recoverable.
He floated it out there and showed he drafted a letter to fire Powell. The markets responded abruptly. I think he knows it would crash the market and doesn’t want to risk it. What I’m really concerned about is when they announce Powell’s replacement next year. Like his other 2nd term appointments, I fully expect an unqualified sycophant. The markets won’t like that either.

Agree, Trump turns 80 soon and will become our OLDEST president. I know I’m tired of him. He gets more dimwited everyday. Not just IMO.
