Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on the Signal scandal: “Americans should be grateful to these individuals and especially to President Trump for putting together such a competent team”

This is what Trump supporters refuse to understand. These people don't lie or bend the truth like normal politicians. It's 1984 levels of lying. More like a loyalty test than anything. If you question us, then you're not one of us.

BREAKING: A high level information security source inside the Department of Defense says they were ordered by political appointees to ignore information security regulations and install Signal on government phones for senior leaders.

Q: Enlisted soldiers, sailors, and Marines would face consequences if they shared this information with a reporter. Why is Trump giving Waltz a free pass here?

Leavitt: If anybody has another question, there's a lot of different things going on in the world

What have Trump officials previously said about classified information?

Mike Waltz

Mike Waltz criticised Joe Biden's team for email-related security conduct in the past
By Jake Horton

Several of the Trump officials apparently included in the Signal chat have previously criticised other people for their handling of classified information.

In June 2023, Trump’s National Security Adviser Mike Waltz - who appears to have added the Atlantic journalist to the chat - criticised President Biden’s National Security Adviser, external for sending "top secret emails" to a private account.

In January 2023, US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, who was a Fox News host at the time, criticised Biden as "nefarious, sloppy and dumb" after classified documents were found in his garage.

Talking about the same incident, Trump’s Secretary of State Marco Rubio said: "Any time documents have been removed from their proper setting it's a problem, I don't care who did it."

And earlier this month US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, when posting about government leaks, external, said that "any unauthorized release of classified information is a violation of the law and will be treated as such".

Mike Waltz claimed yesterday that he has “never met, doesn’t know, and never communicated with” Jeffrey Goldberg.

A photo has just been unearthed of them standing together at an event in 2021.

That looks more like "standing in the same crowd" than "standing together".

That picture doesn't disprove anything Waltz said.

Besides, IMO we should be focusing on the BIG lies and BIG F-ups instead of getting lost in the weeds of whether or not he has met Goldberg before when that really isn't relevant to this whole fiasco.

Who do they believe?! WTF, there´s a smoking gun Karen!!!!!

The White House's strategy to deal with Signal controversy

Karole Leavitt at the podium

Karoline Leavitt, in her recently concluded White House press conference, presented the American public with a choice.

Who did they believe in the group-chat controversy? Jeffrey Goldberg, whom she characterised as an “anti-Trump sensationalist reporter", or Pete Hegseth, the Senate-confirmed secretary of defence who “honourably served our nation in uniform”.

That’s the kind of framing that's a red meat appeal to Donald Trump’s base. The administration's strategy for handling this crisis is to trust that Trump’s loyal supporters - and the Republican politicians they help elect - will stick with the president.

Such faith has carried Trump through more formidable situations than this, and White House officials seem to believe that it will do so again.

There are risks to this strategy, however. While the base may keep Trump afloat, Republicans need more than their core supporters to win elections – such as state races later this year and in the 2026 congressional mid-terms.

Undecided middle-of-the-road Americans may look at the details of the text messages and be less willing trust that Hegseth is honestly assessing whether his own actions put national security at risk.

And trust, once eroded, is difficult to win back.

President Trump announces 25% tariffs on foreign-made cars

I wish they would tell us in the article what tariffs do. I swear every article wants to beat it into our heads that costs will be passed down to the consumer.

Well. Considering during the election half the country believed that it was a tax on the exporting country, I can get the reason for that. Eventually people will get it.

That said, they also still clarify every time they mention Trump arguing about 2020 election that there was no large-scale fraud.

Good point. The problem is the people who don't understand basic economic policy are getting their information from Rogan and youtube, not mainstream media.

BREAKING: The Oklahoma wife of a serviceman whose life was endangered by Trump officials sharing war plans in an unsecured group chat goes after her MAGA senator Mark Wayne Mullin— threatening to "destroy his career" if he ignores her phone calls.

"My husband was one of the service members put at risk by the signal chats that Sen. Mullin is now LYING about in this video he filmed instead of returning my calls," Kendall Brown — who goes by the username @kendallybrown on X — wrote in a post, quote-tweeting Mullin.

"So here's a snippet of my convo with his office today. I meant every word of this. I expect a call, Senator," she added, attaching a video of herself calling into his office, demanding to speak with him about SignalGate.

Mullin, a Trumper, has dismissed the SignalGate scandal and has instead been ranting about Hillary Clinton's emails as if it were 2015 instead of 2025.

"But I do want to make it very clear and I hope that you do take down this message and relay it to the senator to help encourage him to actually be a man and make sure that I get a call set up when I reach out to the scheduler," Brown says in the video to someone on the other end of the phone.

"I want you to let him know that if he doesn't reach out to me I am recording every single time that I have called his office and left a voicemail or spoke to an intern like you," she went on.

"I am recording all of those and if I don't hear back from him I will be sending them to every possible newsroom both in Oklahoma and nationally to let them know that the senator is too much of a coward to call back the wife of the service members in his constituency that was put at risk," she continued.

"And so help me God if I have to quit my f*cking job to make sure that I can drive to every f*cking campaign and public event that the senator has for the rest of his career, I will make it my life's work to destroy his career by making sure that every f*cking Oklahoman knows how few f*cks he gave about my husband's live and the lives of other active duty service members," she stated.

"Yes ma'am, I understand," said the person on the other end of the line.

Brown expanded on her story in followup tweets—

"Just got back on Twitter to discover this tweet going viral unexpectedly. 😳" she wrote. "So just to be clear: My husband is deployed in that area & would be impacted by OPSEC failures/attacks but was not involved in the Houthi strikes themselves. Don't want to inadvertently mislead anyone!"

This is SHOCKING. Four US soldiers died earlier today in Lithuania and Donald Trump just now said he hadn’t even heard about it. This man does not care about our troops.

Then aren't the people who are supposed to brief Trump about how soldiers even worse? Four at a time killed sounds like something rather major happened.
