Super Regoonals

I think the angst most of the OSU fan base has with Josh is he has underperformed given the OSU baseball history and resources (O’Brate). One can blame the type of players today, but how does Van Horn at Arkansas get a consistent super regional program with these immature players? Oregon State is another good example.

I believe a good coach (you can extrapolate that to a good leader) can get players to play at their highest level and be consistently high performing. Ward was a master at this. Kelvin Sampson and Coach K are good examples in basketball.

I think Josh is an above average baseball coach who really cares about his school but has underperformed. Hopefully I am wrong and he goes on a super regional streak, with some CWS thrown in and makes me eat crow (which I would gladly do).
I think you are way kind in your assessment of above average, average maybe, about is extreme kindness. I will not be holding my breath in anticipation of super regional streak or CWS appearance(s). He has squandered O'Brate advantage and his approach to baseball is hard to grasp.

He hasn’t just squandered O’Brate advantage, he has squandered making O’Brate the most feared environment to step foot in. This work/life balance that he and Gundy demand or practice is ridiculous.

If Josh has squandered O’Brate, so have the fans. Sure they buy the tickets but watching empty seats on TV is on the fans. Playing in a half full stadium is a buzz kill.
When they did the initial ticket seat selection process the long time season ticket holders had priority and many were in their 70’s and 80’s and they hold most of the prime seats now. However, many don’t show up for every game but they will come to regionals. These were all people who were from the Ward Era and many were upset with changing to a new stadium and have never cared for Josh Holliday. They were all spoiled basically by the legacy established by Ward. Similar to Sutton era fans have not really supported coaches since that era.

My guess with time Holliday will need to get to Omaha or he will be let go either next year or the year after as it seems he has not been able to break through the ceiling to Omaha related to OSU fan expectations.

I’ve been to a lot of games at O’Brate over the last few years and this is a major beef I have. There are definitely games where the park is packed and still those seats behind home plate are maybe half full. A couple of years ago, they allowed people to move down into those seats in 3rd inning, but now they strictly enforce the opposite. They have someone at the top of every aisle checking tickets the entire game.

In my opinion, if you come to 25% of games or less in a given year, you should have to forfeit your tickets and allow someone else to get in.

Exactly. Or just donate them for the University to resell.

I somewhat agree. All of the empty seats behind the plate are ridiculous. That's also on Weiberg to be proactive with those season ticket holders and find a way to get those seats filled one way or another.

But also, a lot of the time, it just a tough product to watch. It's great if player A hits a HR on Sunday, but I came on Friday and watching him strikeout 3 times and pop up the other AB, along with other teammates doing the same isn't entertaining. That goes double for my 13 year old son who finds OSU baseball really boring right now.

College fans are being asked to spend ALOT of money these days and I've put in my share, I at the minimum, expect a fun team to watch.

VERY few OSU teams provided that this year

I’d love to see some sort of system where the ticket holder can communicate to the school that they won’t make it to a game and the school could then do free upgrades to lucky fans based on a lottery system. Then you could give the season ticket holder some free posse points or something for doing so. Everyone wins, the stadium looks good every game, and it costs nothing

Not sure how baseball tickets work but, I could donate my basketball tickets through the OSU Athletic website. Of course that was six years ago. For me it he enjoyment left in 2019. I send a bit of money to the non revenue sports every year still.

Fans will show and support when a decent product is put on the diamond, if the product is lacking so will be the fan support. Better coaching, better product will get you better fan support and attendance.

I’m tired of the people that are paying the bills being blamed for the lack of performance. I’m Orange to the Bone but the fact is the coaches are pissing away the chance to be elite

I don’t think anyone is blaming donors for the on field performance. We’re just saying it looks bad in the stadium when they don’t come to games.

I tried to get baseball season tickets this year but they were all sold out, so yea I get pissed when I’m over a few sections and see a ton of empty seats where I want to sit.

I have seats in 110 and even though I go to all the weekend games, I normally get to my seats in early 1st inning. Often there are people in my seats when I arrive and they will move when I get there with no real issues. I have no problem with others sitting in my seats if I am not at the game.

Somehow people get down there even though there are security monitoring who sits behind home plate. I also have BPS row four seats at the 45 yard line in 104. There are no security checking seats tickets and those areas and people move down and sit in seats and move if the season ticket holder shows up. Frequently Box seats are empty and others move in if they don’t show up. I think some Box seats are reserved for members of the Oklahoma Senate or House and they go back and forth to the Suite Level or just don’t attend games, especially seasons like last year.

Seems that they could let anybody sit in those seats unless the season ticket holder is at the game at O’Brate similar to how they do at BPS.

At GIA they let people sit in the 200 seats without having security check your seats unless you are lower level, but many non students sit in the floor level student seats.

I had Thunder Tickets their first year and also when NO played in OKC several years, I had tickets to those games. They had a system where if I didn’t get there by a certain time they would resell my tickets and refund me some money. If I showed second quarter I would have to sit in different seats, so after that happened once I made sure I got to games early enough.

The OSU ticket Office may need to have a process of reselling prime seats behind home plate or allow people to upgrade their seats to better seats if the season ticket holder is not at the game by the end of the first inning or have a system of where season ticket holder lose their seats or cannot renew them if they don’t attend games.

Here’s how I rank them in terms of which team I will be rooting for.

Arizona - because Big XII, which didn’t get to host a regional.
Murray State- #4 seed that took out the SEC and the ACC.
Oregon State - playing with a chip on their shoulder for being left out. Like their coach.
Coastal Carolina - Sun Belt team that took out Auburn.
Louisville - why not here. Not Big 10 or SEC.
UCLA - because they are not from the SEC.
LSU - because they are SEC and not Arkansas.
Arkansas - because they are SEC and they are Arkansas.

My brother was one of those old people and handicapped. He cant walk very far due to heart conditions. He was going to have to park by centerfield and walk around to his seats. He wrote to the AD and complained but it didn't do any good. He would have been happy with a golf cart shuttle but they didn't provide one. He dropped his tickets.

There seems to be a good number of wheel chair spots, but not many are used. There is a parking lot across from the front entrance to O’Brate that typically is half empty. They should buy that lot and put a two story parking garage up for people with health issues that can’t walk very far.

The university already owns that lot...its an Overflow Lot

I thought it was private owned lot, as they collect $20 to $25 dollars per car for football games or was it recently purchased by the University? O’Brate has all the Handicapped parking in the outfield lot where it is far away from the HP seating areas.

The lot across the street is gravel and needs to be paved for wheel chair access, but it is very close to the front entrance of O’Brate. I used to park there and go in the front entrance but now I park in the outfield lot.
