FSU really isn’t a historical power. They were nothing before Bowden. Jimbo had the great year on the shoulders of Winston, but they fell off badly through their next several hires.

I lived in Valdosta, GA, which is 1.5 hours from FSU. During the Bowden glory years, that area was covered up with people wearing FSU gear.

During their down years, all of that went away.

Like a lot of schools, when they win, people jump on the bandwagon. When they aren’t winning, people lose interest.

Miami can’t fill its stadium. They didn’t have that problem during the glory years.
