SAVE act

Would it be a federal offense if you sold it to someone who is prohibited from having it?
If I know or have reasonable cause to believe they are prohibited from having it and provide it, it is a violation of both state and federal law.

Felony under federal law. Misdemeanor under Oklahoma law.

Again, you have to possess a valid ID 1st before you can purchase a firearm.

It isn't and never will be easier to get a firearm than to register to vote.

And yes the SAVE Act should create a system.
No, the SAVE act should not exist at all. In the past, we had a conservative party that fought against big federal government coming in and creating a bunch of stupid laws to fight problems that do not exist. The states are charged by the constitution with ensuring we have appropriate voting. There is NO EVIDENCE of significant non-citizen voting. Therefore the states have been doing the job so there is no reason for this liberal federal law.

And you have to have a specific ID to register to vote. That is harder than just having an ID.

I'm against the current SAVE Act because there is not enough system in place.

The Schumer meme is still ridiculous.
Fair enough, though I don’t think the Schumer meme is as ridiculous as you say it is. Hyperbolic to try and make a point? Sure.

None of this takes into account the potential of selective, discriminatory discretion of the States to remove previously registered voters from the voter rolls for not meeting the requirements of the SAVE Act with little to no notice to the voter......this close to mid-terms. It's an opportunity for massive chicanery by officials with a dog in the hunt.

1. The SAVE Act....as promoted....is a solution to something that isn't a problem.
2. It will give rise to chaos prior to the mid-term elections. There simply isn't enough time to enact and enforce its provisions fairly and accurately. It will give rise to further "stop the steal" type suits and counter-suits. That's what Trump wants.
3. I would have less of an issue with the SAVE Act if the effective date was after the 2028 elections and persons presently registered to vote could not be removed without a formal hearing to establish they are not citizens (rather than the voter having to prove they are under new rules). In other words....prospective application to future registrations rather than retroactive application to those already registered. I'd probably still be against it (as an unnecessary and ill-advised infringement upon States' rights), but certainly less so.

Speaker Mike Johnson caught on hot mic saying that The SAVE Act would result in 12% to 18% lower voter turnout.

"That would be huge for us," he added, meaning the Republican Party.

He has literally blamed Democrats mily times today for the TSA shutdown

Then says

Trump: “I'm tying [bills for] Homeland Security and voter identification with picture and proof of citizenship in order to vote…I'm requesting that the Republican senators do that immediately. You don't have to take a fast vote. Don't worry about Easter going home. In fact, make this one for Jesus, OK? Make this one for Jesus.”

Make this one for Jesus?

Im not sure what to think of that.

“I will not agree to any deal to fund TSA unless the Dems pass the Save America act.”

If I was in Congress as a Republican, I'd vote to pass a funding resolution deal for TSA and FEMA and force him to veto it.

At least then I could tell my constituents I tried when I when I was running during mid-terms.

If they'd do that, I bet he'd TACO yet again and sign it.

Surely at some point even the MAGA Congressmen have to realize being a Trump toadie does more harm to their future election hopes than good.

NEW: Palm Beach County records confirm Trump cast a mail ballot in tomorrow's Florida House District 87 special election, the same day he publicly declared "mail-in voting means mail-in cheating." It is not the first time. Trump has repeatedly voted by mail while using the practice as the centerpiece of his SAVE Act, pushing voter suppression nationwide.
