Portal Recruiting Thread

Keep in mind that Zach Edey was international recruit and that Lutz was his primary recruiter. Not saying that every international recruit brought in by Lutz is going to be Zach Edey but there is precedent of success there. Oh, and 7'4" guys don't grow on trees.
Edey is from Toronto? He moved to the states in High School to go to IMG. I wouldn’t call him an international recruit?

I was only aware of the fact that Edey was from Canada. I didn't realize he ever went to IMG. Under those circumstances, I would agree that he was not an international recruit.

Mantzoukas appears to be a fairly decorated player overseas. According to Wikipedia:
In addition to this:

"Mantzoukas thus became (at age 14) the second youngest player to ever debut in the top-tier level Greek League, since it became fully professional in 1992."

"Three months later, on 24 May 2017, while still at the age of 14, Mantzoukas became the youngest player to ever start a game in the top-tier level Greek League, since it became fully professional in 1992."

This is exactly what we need for amateur basketball - more 8-year veterans of professional ball!

Look up all his stats on all those teams. He really hasn’t produced at a high level, even in the year he was named the most improved player he averaged less than 20 minutes per game, only 5.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and less than one assist. And he’s not a shot blocker, he averaged 0.1 blocks a game. He has good size and experience, so I guess he’s a good add, but the stats don’t blow ya away. The Greek league is usually considered the third best league in Europe after the Spanish and Italian leagues, so I guess he would at least translate to be a role player at the college level.

So he is a foreigner.
Sure. If a guy who lived in the US for four years of high school, speaks English, and was recruited by multiple bigger schools is the exact same type of foreigner as Andre Vukovic, then yes, by that definiton he’s a foreigner. Or, just maybe, we could recognize that they’re not the same and it’s not indicative that Lutz is “getting another foreigner” like he did with Edey.

All I was insinuating was it appears there might be a new angle to recruits and they stay loyal due to the American dream opportunity. We do you a favor, you stay 3-4 yrs as opposed to this new one year contract it appears with American players.
