OT March Madness Thread

Boynton built one helluva great team. Michigan will win the national championship and with ease. It took Boynton just 2 classes to turn Michigan into monster. Boynton recruited nearly the entire roster... I think only one or two were recruited by Dusty.

Boynton will be a HC somewhere at the start of the 2026-2027 season. And he's a helluva great guy, too
Here is a hypothetical: If Boynton remains at Michigan next year and they go to the Sweet 16 or beyond again, and Lutz doesn't perform well and is let go, would Boynton be a strong candidate at OSU or a hard pass?

Why they even decided to pass the ball is beyond confusing. All you have to do it hold it and get fouled. There were exactly 10 seconds left on the clock. There was no chance of a 10 second call.
Would you call that a coaching mistake not to tell his players to hold the ball?

Talk about gassing up an assistant, my god. The head coach took FAU to the final four and brought 4 guys with him to Ann Arbor.

Congratulations, Boynton! It’s great to see Mike Boynton smiling again. Give him just a couple of recruiting classes and transfers, and he built something special—he essentially put together Michigan’s entire roster.

Boynton is a genuinely good man. It’s unfortunate that OSU fans didn’t always show him the respect and support he deserved.

He’s also donated a significant amount of his own money to help feed and clothe underprivileged kids—and he never did it for recognition. He did it simply because that’s who he is: one of the best people I’ve ever met, if not the best. It was nearly a 7-figure sum.

I miss that guy... I miss talking to him. He deserved more from us. I couldn't be more happy for Boynton.

He brought one. A single Florida Atlantic transfer. The only one who's made and meaningful impact

This is the class you're referring to? One Florida Atlantic transfer.

Don't know how you and why you threw a fit over my post. Boynton built Michigan's roster, whether you like it or not

I think Oklahoma State gave him every opportunity to succeed, and it didn't happen.

I’m the biggest Boynton fan you’ll ever meet. What killed him was the bogus NCAA sanctions in the 2021-2022 season. After coming up with an excellent 2020-2021 season with being Big 12 tourney runner up and a round 32 exit. We were poised to be legit contenders for the following season.

That all went down hill when the NCAA decided to make an example of us.

It absolutely killed all momentum and I’m afraid to say this, but I don’t think Boynton was able to recover from that.

You’re right, my bad.

I remember that FAU team getting gutted after the Final Four appearance, but forgot that the multiple players lost went to different final four teams.

I’m guessing Boynton gets a NC ring tonight and good for him.

He’s also an assistant on a staff that the HC took FAU to the Final Four, & also at one of the largest schools and NIL’s in the country.
Great job being an assistant for the Dodgers, I guess?

His time at OSU is what it was and was a massive mistake by Holder is what the record will show.

Dusty May is a heckuva coach.
No doubt, 8 wins two years ago and a national championship this year with mostly transfer portal players. Very similar to Indiana in football this year, although Indiana doesn't have the history of success that Michigan basket ball has..

Gives hope to programs like OSU that are working to get up to a competative level.

Your takes are always hilarious. Yes, Boynton was heavily involved in the recruitment of the Michigan roster. But you know they have multiple other assistant coaches, right? To imply Boynton was the main recruiter on all players, except for one or two who the head coach recruited, is hilarious.
