OT College FB Playoff, Hiring/Portal Thread

They give me Hope.
Next Xmas has come early with the 4 teams that are left! Would’ve been even better if Tech had won, but no UGA, no tOSU, & Bama getting blown out yet again.

I’ve railed against the preseason polls and how they shape perceptions. This season 10 of the top 25 wound up unranked, 5 from the top 10. Half of the final 8 came from teams ranked 11 or below in the preseason.

So, Mestemaker hasn't even taken his visit to Stillwater, but he's already signed a $7M contract (per RA)? We sure about that?

Not sure of anything but I think someone said that the deal was agreed on but he wanted to wait until today to make that announcement but someone leaked it early. I guess we'll see.

He will be reminded and will fall back in line.
Oh I don’t doubt it.

Having said that, this season has also been one that’s shown the light on the middle of the SEC-which helps considerably in terms of opinion and the direction of playoff seeding.

To hear him actually voice any weakness in the SEC teams is notable.

He’s actually seeing that the old days of stacking 4 & 5 stars on a roster are largely over with. There won’t be another Saban dynasty any time soon, imo, simply because the player movement era has completely changed.

They should hold him to the terms of the contract. Doing so will help bring a small amount of sanity to the three ring circus college athletics has become.

More sanity coming out of the UW QB fiasco!

Guy signs his deal with UW, announces he’s transferring, school says you’re under contract and we’ll come after you AND your new school for the $$$. QB changes his mind and will stay at UW.

So the situation begs the obvious question: why did he change his mind within 48 hours? Did the school he was talking to back away when they saw UW’s strategy?
Will this have any impact on tampering moving forward if schools believe they’ll have to pay a buyout? Lastly, how bad do you want a guy to be your QB when he’s stating he wants to be somewhere else?

I’m glad to see UW’s stance on the buyout and the AD pointing to the house settlement and saying that the contracts have to be abided by like any contract. The stupid gray areas of the contracts are still mystifying to me.

WOW Indiana is good.
Yeah they are if you’ve watched them at all.

But, again, the polls rely so heavily on previous performances that it takes them a couple of years to clue in to what everyone is seeing. You’ll still see Eli Drinkwitz & Mizzou propped up as contenders, & they’ll lose to every winning team they play-but those are good losses!
