Out of curiosity, does anyone else think the Steve Lutz "system" of swarming to the ball and double teaming everyone, all the time, without exception is really f'ing dumb?

We're dead last in the Big 12 in team defense and it's blindingly obvious why.

I like Lutz, but bro, it's really easy to see how teams are attacking your gimmicky defense every game. Stop blaming the players. Big 12 players know how to wait for the double team and pass to the open man.

I agree, but I think part of it is a plan to mask their terrible on the ball defense. When they go straight man, they get embarrassed on the ball. The biggest error is his inability to motivate them to play harder.

3rd time better be the charm, next year needs to be “no more excuses”. Yes, likely going to be another full roster turnover and several young guys, but you’ve got to start showing you can get it done, not just occasional top 25 upsets.

What is your definition of get it done? At this point, I’m looking for winning games you’re supposed to win, and get SOME occasional top 25 upsets.

These guys play like they’re a sub .500 NBA team with 15 games left on the season.

I believe we should move to this mentality. I am not sure if Weiberg would even confront a coach about anything in regards to their job. I think weiberg needs to be more aggressive with telling lutz to make changes

So dumb. There was literally articles recently about how Weiberg basically told the softbal coach he screwed up and to get his act together. So there’s actual prove Weiberg does what you accuse him of not doing.

So Weiberg having discussions with Lutz is supposed to magically make the team automatically improve? Your entire argument is insane to me. You expect an AD, who’s never coached or played basketball, to “get on to” a career basketball guy, and tell him what changes to make? Then you learn Weiberg has actual documented history of doing that, and you still aren’t satisfied.

I agree Lutz hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. Although I will say we’re better than last year. And, bro, the bottom line is it’s documented Weiberg doesn’t let under performance slide. I guarantee both are doing things to try and make improvements. Bro.
