You are high as a kite if you see a NCAA Tournament team.If you watched this game and saw anything close to a NCAA Tournament team on the floor, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Sorry, but Ford led us to FIVE NCAA tournament appearances. How many have we had since?Score a big upset or two but then lose a bunch of games you have no business losing, where have we seen that before. The entire Travis Ford and Boynton eras all over again.
None of them successful. What’s it even matter to make it if you get bounced in the first round. Program hasn’t been successful for 20 years.Sorry, but Ford led us to FIVE NCAA tournament appearances. How many have we had since?

I feel like Lutz needs to be on the hot seat next year. What we've seen the last season and a half has been mostly bad. I want to believe he can get it done, but he keeps proving me wrong. It’s been noted before but something about this team is just off. They come in almost every game looking uninspired, they don’t seem to respect or respond to their coach, and they don’t seem like they like each other either.
Oh well, next year will likely be almost an all new roster again. Just based on demeanor I’d bet many of those eligible to come back don’t.
Lutz has us missing Travis Ford…YikesSorry, but Ford led us to FIVE NCAA tournament appearances. How many have we had since?
I did not see the game tonight but listened to it. If it's like other games, it's just old fashioned help defense. You have to be disciplined and smart to do it right. And it requires a lot of effort when the other team swings the ball well.Out of curiosity, does anyone else think the Steve Lutz "system" of swarming to the ball and double teaming everyone, all the time, without exception is really f'ing dumb?
We're dead last in the Big 12 in team defense and it's blindingly obvious why.
I like Lutz, but bro, it's really easy to see how teams are attacking your gimmicky defense every game. Stop blaming the players. Big 12 players know how to wait for the double team and pass to the open man.
We don’t double team everyone, all the time. Our defense sucks, but that’s not what we do. Our defense sucks because we can’t defend the pick and roll and we don’t have a rim protector. So we get beat on drives and we have to help at the rim, which leaves shooters open. Late in games, when we’re down because of those decencies, that’s when we start to double more to try and create turnovers, but it’s not the detail defense.Out of curiosity, does anyone else think the Steve Lutz "system" of swarming to the ball and double teaming everyone, all the time, without exception is really f'ing dumb?

Unfortunately, teams tend to be a reflection of their best player. As much as I love Parsah Fallah, Anthony Roy is our best player. Anthony Roy is a force on the offensive end and when he is rolling he can absolutely take over a basketball game. Unfortunately, he is also prone to taking bad shots, forcing his shots instead of passing, and having bad defensive lapses. Thus, the rest of the team follows.I still have a lot of confidence that Lutz is the guy for OSU. Last year, we had scrappy guys who played super hard but were not extremely offensively skilled. Predictably, Lutz brought in a lot of offensive firepower this season (also bringing in a lot of guys with an apparent me-first attitude that comes along with an offense first approach) and overcorrected. This is a valuable experience for Lutz to learn some hard lessons about the impact of the character of the guys he brings in. Right now, OSU is stuck with the guys they have and mentalities don't change overnight. I expect Lutz to clean house this off-season, bring in hungry guys that have a defense first mentality but more offensive skill, and win big in year 3. The players themselves testify repeatedly to the fact that Lutz is coaching hard in the areas where they are failing to execute. I think the problem is the players on the roster rather than the coaching. Now, that falls back on the coach as well. But I can't blame him for going out and prioritizing offense in the off-season. I have faith that Lutz is an excellent coach, I just think this team doesn't have the mental toughness to put a better product on the floor. That is Lutz's fault and he owns it. But I would call for calmer heads to prevail and see what he does in year 3. I don't think Lutz is going to be bringing in the same brand of player next year.
