Senate Bill Seeks Felony Charges for Transition Care
Senate Bill 1905 seeks to make providing gender transition related medical care a felony and to prohibit public funds from going to organizations that provide or support such care.
The measure was introduced for the 2026 legislative session and has been referred to committee. It has not become law yet.
The bill would prohibit any transgender associated procedures, medications, treatments, hormones and pharmaceuticals for any person in Oklahoma. The prohibition would apply to both minors and adults.
Under the proposal, any person who provides such care would be guilty of a felony. Physicians and other licensed providers who violate the ban could face professional discipline and potential malpractice liability.
The bill authorizes the Oklahoma Attorney General to pursue criminal and civil enforcement actions.
The measure would also bar state agencies and programs from using public funds to pay for or reimburse transition related care. The restriction would apply to Medicaid, the state employee health plan and other forms of state funding.
The proposal includes an exception for mental health counseling intended to align a person with their biological sex at birth.
Senate Bill 1905 was authored and introduced by Republican State Senator Shane Jett of Oklahoma. Link to the bill in the comments.
