Official - Eric Morris is the new OSU Coach!

Golesh to Auburn and Silverfield to Arkansas. Looks like Arkansas had to drop down their list…HA!

Great job by Chad of locking Morris in. Think it was safe to assume Morris and Golesh were 1a and 1b, but he could probably tell Golesh was playing some games.
We are so lucky with our hire and the fans acceptance of him.

If your bored go on YouTube and watch some of the pigs reactions. Its getting ugly and the ad may not survive this. Locked arkansas razorbacks is the best. That guy was yelling and angry about it.

Anyone know anything about either line from North Texas? You’ve got to get NFL prospects to even have a chance of success.
Or you have a system that protects a weakness instead of exploiting it…..

We haven’t exactly been a bastion of NFL linemen success and still won games.

Does it need to get better, absolutely. Wouod
I love NFL lineman on both sides, yep. Is that realistic and the only route to success? No.

100% agree. Gundy effectively gaslit a bunch of Kool-Aid drinkers into believing that, so you'll still hear people throwing that out as the only way to win games.

Exactly right. That's why I was so glad when Holgerson came in. After years of trying to go head-to-head with teams (mostly ou) that had superior talent, especially on both lines, we went to the air raid and played away from the worst mismatches. Monken did the same, but with a little more run game mixed in. And our running plays usually weren't the kind where you're trying to muscle up against more physical d-linemen. The more our OCs got less independent, the more we've reverted in offensive prowess. Now I think/hope/pray we're going back to out-scheming the opposition. Can't wait.

The new coach cured most suffers, but those with severe symptoms still have issues.
Goes both ways, actually. We still have people believing we can't compete with NIL funds, need to establish the run game to have a chance to win any game, need NFL OL to do that, the media is out to get us, etc....

Hopefully with time and success, the new regime can cure all of our respective ailments.

Weird that the new coach has a team averaging almost 200 rushing yards a game and an OT that is a NFL prospect. I think you have read way too much into comments made through the years.

The reverse of everything you said is also true. You will have people who think you can just put cardboard cutouts out for offensive linemen and scheme around that. That our NIL funds are unlimited and that a one dimentional team can suceed on a consistant basis because it has happened before.

Some where in the middle of these positions lies the real answer.

It will be interesting to see how much leadway all the fans, that raged against Gundy about only winning one conference championship, give the new coach.

Fair. I do think people tend to get too polarized on all of this.

Personally, I just want to see a coach that demonstrates a willingness and ability to fight for success within the limitations rather than one that accepts the results while blaming the limitations. I want to see innovation, adaptability, risk taking, aggression, intelligence, and drive to succeed during preparation, practice, and in games. I want a coach that has a healthy view of fans and the media.

To me, those are just basic qualities that every D1 HC should have.

Edit: We should also acknowledge the possibility (or likelihood) that you can pass to open up the run when your OL isn't strong enough to establish the run before anything else can happen.
