NCAA Championship Seeds Announced

Crazy how good all these freshmen are nationally. Upper weights are all the muscled up 6th yr guys and the lower weights are cirque du soleil freshmen funky superstars across the country! Some NIL deals are going up tonight

I wonder how many of these 133 guys cut weight or got up a class? There are like 5 freshmen that would be generational talents at any other time

Would not be surprised to see Jax go to 141 next season
I would. Where does that put Vega, and if he bumps, where does that pout Robideau? While Vega could probably put on a little bit and be fine at 157, I think Landon is too small for 165. How about the Raneys?

125: Spratley
133: Forrest
141: Vega/Raney
149: Vega/Raney
157: Robideau
165: Lockett/?
174: Ryder
184: White
197: Merrill
HWT: Ross

That’s my guess
I heard some rumblings that a transfer at 184 might be headed our way. Might be good for White to have a RS year since he is still relatively new to the sport.

You must not of heard David Taylor’s press conference. Vega struggled to make 141 all season. The weight cut was brutal. He was never going to be a career 141 and Jax was never going to be a career 133. 141 fits Jax more from an Olympic standpoint as he wrestles at 65 KG. It’s possible they asked him to stay for another year but I wouldn’t be surprised if both go up a weight.

Landon is a career 57. You have Dee at 65 and despite his shortcomings this staff isn’t going to give up on him. He needed to be humbled. Jayden is a 133 and could compete immediately. Jordyn is 141/149 likely to redshirt

One thing I've learned this year is that Penn State fans are delusional. They have one era of success and now they think they are the greatest dynasty in the sport.

Yeah, that's what happens. You recruit the best players you can which is exactly what happened here. Then those players eventually become coaches and unless you retire they are going to be gunning for your spot.

It's not like if Walsh becomes at HC at TCU he's going to throw games against us just because of where he went to college. All of us love our Alma mater but we love paychecks too.

Coleman Scott was the Head Coach at UNC. It was a matter of time until one of Sanderson’s wrestlers became a Head Coach.

Sanderson left Iowa State

Good showing at the tournament which brings a lot of positivity towards next season. It will be interesting to see how the lineup shakes out, though it could be the same just insert heavyweight. Either way, I look for is to really separate from the pack as the second best team and be in the conversation for a team title.

It could look something like this…….

141: Forrest
149: Vega
157: Raney/Swiderski
165: Robideau

197: Merrill

Solid lineup. That 133 weight class is so deep does DT put Forrest there again or bump him up to 141?

I think that’s the question for Jax, Sergio and Dee. I don’t know how “in the know” the Flo guy is but he seems to think those three guys are having or will have trouble making weight at their current weight class. He inferred that Dee was having trouble making weight this year and that because of their length and young age that Jax and Sergio would likely have trouble staying where they are!

Assuming that Forrest and Vega go up, I think you get following lineup:

125. Spratley
133 Raney
141 Forrest
149 Vega
157 Robideau
165 Rutledge
174 Lockett
184 White
197 Merrell
285 Ross

Can the smaller Raney make 133? Wrestled 145 in HS. If he can, he is in the hunt for a national championship. Maybe another freshman nat champ. In terms of recruiting rankings, Raney and his twin brother were similar to Vega and Robideau. No real reason to expect that they don't perform like Vega and Robideau did.

Given what he he did in HS, one has to think Lockett is a can wrestle. The results were what you would expect if he was cutting too much weight. Strong at first, but weaker as year progressed (think Jamison). Maybe he moves up to 174 and get his grove back. Talent is there, as he did beat the 2nd place finisher at 165 during season.

Rutledge wrestled only a few matches, but one was against Ruiz from ASU that placed 4th at 165. Though Rutledge lost by 1 point, I think he looked like the better wrestler and after his redshirt year should do well.

I think with injury, Ryder has surgery and takes medical redshirt. Means we need White to come in strong. Darkhorse contender is Luke Hamiti, who won state title at 190.

Ross should be stud. Only question is can he put on enough muscle to take advantage of his talent as a true freshman. Look for an AA, and maybe another freshman nat champ.
