KSU at OSU

That foul on the 3 point may have saved any hopes for this season. Baffling that Lutz can’t figure out how to prevent a team from draining a million 3’s on your home floor game after game. Not impressed.
If we had lost I was 98 % through with him. Seems he is lost as was His team tonight. So frustrating to watch a team not drilled well, if at all.

I get what you're saying, but the frustrating part is that a lot of it is effort.

--sprint back on defense to stop the ball higher
--fight harder through and around screens
--proper close outs to contest shots
--know the scouting report and don't help of off their best shooter

It looks real bad on Lutz that he emphasizes these things (or at least he says he does) and it doesn't show on the court. I still think he could be our guy for the long term, but this is a major concern.
As a former coach I tend to cut him some slack. We saw those things last year just couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat. You can run drills, watch film, and talk about strategy till you are blue in the face. Then they go out on the court and do the exact opposite. What is Lutz supposed to do? This team just has never gelled. You could blame it on the injuries early but something with these guys just isn’t clicking.

I get what you're saying, but he is paid very handsomely to find a way. It's what seperates great coaches from the rest. It's still pretty early in his time here, and I still have high hopes--especially based on his recruiting class--that this program will be back.

BUT, there's nothing that looks worse on a head coach than a team who's biggest weakness is effort/lack of discipline.

There are veteran coaches all around in football and basketball getting fired…not because of resumes but because things don’t click for a year or two. It’s a completely revamped team. We can’t continue going down the constant rabbit hole of we have to be a final four team or fire the coach. It takes times to build. Eddie didn’t do it his first 10years, it took time. And the second final 4 was a team of old mature veterans…hence the Indiana football success story. We can’t be doom and gloom year after year because we lose some games

Of course you are, bring a former coach, know how to invigorate a team and people on the team to perform above ability. With past evidence of great basketball play, my wife would say, I sometimes cussed Eddie's court play and I did. With this portal error (era) I guess I need to "Curb my Enthusiasm"" . Guess I have to get my EM era under control.

I don't think anyone is saying it's final four or be fired, or is even suggesting he be fired.

I believe that the portal mentality of players causes them to not be as coachable. They have to want to get better. Thats what separates players. Talent alone won’t cut it unless you have talent like Cade or Marcus. Coaches need coachable players and those players are difficult to identify until you get them on the court.
