Without denominators, numerators don't give us a picture of anything.

During that time frame, how many people in the US died?

Without that knowledge, we cannot know if this is wasteful spending.

If we spend $50 billion a year to deport a ton of people to stop 0.0001% of deaths, that could be tragically wasteful when it is possible that we could have spent that same amount of money on the thousands of other things that cause death and had far more success in preventing deaths.

If after reading what I wrote, you have the strong urge to disagree, you really need to ask yourself why?

You make a fine point about spending. That much money to deport illegals is ridiculous and shouldn't be happening.
I believe if you use a common denominator the numbers are a lot closer than you imagine them to be.
  • Texas Data (2013–2022): Texas is one of the few states that tracks this data. During this period, the homicide conviction rate per 100,000 people was:
    • 3.0 for native-born Americans.
    • 2.2 for illegal immigrants.
    • 1.2 for legal immigrants.

If the president offered citizenship to all the illegals if they vote Republican how fast do you think Democrats would want them all gone?
If you think that question is irrelevant you really need to ask yourself why.

Immigrants are conservative people by a significant margin. All republicans would need to do to have a conservative majority in the country is to drop the racism and the reactionary immigration enforcement. Have you asked yourself why they won't drop the racism?
