ICE

Ellison: "This was a family taking their kids from an athletic event and they ended up getting caught in the middle of the ICE behavior and protesters, and then, inexplicably, they shot tear gas too close to the car and that caused the infant to have some respiratory problems. I understand CPR had to be administered. It's arguably reckless behavior. I think that's why they took it down. They knew they were wrong."

AI Overview

While the Obama administration oversaw a higher total volume of removals, the immigration deportation policies of Barack Obama and Donald Trump differed significantly in their
priorities, target populations, and use of administrative discretion. Obama's approach focused on deporting those with criminal records and recent border crossers, while Trump’s approach eliminated these restrictions to target nearly all unauthorized immigrants for removal.
Obama Administration Deportation Policies
  • Priorities: Targeted individuals with serious criminal records, recent border crossers, and national security threats.
  • Prosecutorial Discretion: Implemented policies (such as DACA) to protect certain, non-criminal, undocumented immigrants, particularly those brought to the U.S. as children.
  • Volume and Scope: Recorded over 3 million deportations in eight years, with a peak in 2012, leading to the label "deporter-in-chief".
  • Methodology: Often focused on "returns" (expulsion at the border) and, particularly in the second term, targeted criminals through programs like the Priority Enforcement Program (PEP).
Trump Administration Deportation Policies
  • Priorities: Effectively removed all limitations on who was considered a priority, making any undocumented immigrant with a removable offense a target for deportation.
  • Prosecutorial Discretion: Severely limited, aiming to deport all unauthorized individuals regardless of ties to the community or lack of criminal history.
  • Volume and Scope: Had lower total removal numbers than the Obama administration, but increased the detention of non-criminals.
  • Methods: Emphasized high-profile, "showcase" raids and expanded the use of "expedited removal" to speed up deportations without a full court hearing.
Key Differences
  • Targeting: Obama-era policies aimed to remove "felons, not families," whereas Trump's policies removed distinctions between serious offenders and law-abiding undocumented residents.
  • Scope: Trump’s policies resulted in higher rates of arrest for individuals without criminal records, compared to Obama's, which targeted criminals, according to immigration advocates.
  • Tone: Critics noted that Obama’s enforcement was "quieter" and more focused on legal, administrative processes, while Trump’s was more visible, theatrical, and designed for deterrence.
While Trump promised higher numbers, his administration in its first term did not reach the daily average of removals recorded during the peak of the Obama administration.

Not even effing close!!!!
They fall for the same sh!+ every time from the same sources.

I saw it again yesterday on social media.

Ex A-When someone brings up Trump regime is not deporting at same levels as Obama they point out that Obama’s numbers are skewed bc they include “turnarounds” at the border.

Ex B-When someone criticizes how the regime is treating undocumented immigrants these same people will tell you “Obama deported even more.”

As can be seen by the last 20 plus pages of a woman being shot and the regime lying about it. You will not win an argument. You will not get the last word. You will not convince a magastani. Facts do not matter. Goalposts will be moved. Questions will be ignored. Lights will be fueled w gas.

This is an excellent analysis of the killing of Renee Good. Some will blow it off purely because it is the NY times. But, they show multiple time synchronized videos that give the most detail I have seen of what happened. Also, those stating that she would not just leave her partner there must not have seen the video where her partner is screaming "Drive baby! Drive!"

I'm not a prosecutor so while can have my personal opinion, I'm not the one to decide if he should be prosecuted. But, I do have common sense. The idea that a killing like this is so obviously justified that there does not need to be a formal investigation is blatantly absurd. Anyone supporting a government that would do this just because they like ICE and don't like protesters like Renee Good are being short-sighted. Can you consider that at some point these tactics will be applied against things you do like? We now have a government that feels it can do what it wants. Have a little introspection, do you honestly believe the government will just do things you like from now on even if they no longer have to be accountable?

Its Minnesota...in Winter... everything is covered in ice

A decent pair of ice cleats solves this problem. Or putting a little salt or sand out on the sidewalk. Its funny if people are doing this but it's not like these aren't problems that were solved a really long time ago. Just saying. If it were me and I didn't care about a vandalism charge Id spray water on their windshield and door handles. Not super bad because of remote start and stuff like that but it's still going to be a b!tch if they don't think about stuff like that and have to scrape ice every morning.

Also if I were to guess the lack of training for ICE agents who aren't local probably means they aren't the best at driving in wintery conditions. To be fair 90% of the time it's not a big deal because the roads get plowed and treated fairly regularly if its snowing but you get a bunch of people who want to act like cowboys and don't know how to handle slick roads and you are going to have accidents.
