They absolutely are getting paid to do little to nothing. Its what their donor class wants. That and a lot of the democratic leadership are not even left of center themselves. They just have some asthetic support of social iberalism and call it a day. It is why their approval rating is in the twenties, even lower than trump despite how unpopular he is.

There needs to be a wholesale change. I'd much rather see a Ro Khanna or Van Hollen as minority leader. There would be at least some fight in them.
