ICE

When all the brown people are gone, who are you going to blame your shortcomings and failings on? Trans and gays? What then?

And yes, I stand by what I said. This country sucks, and it's getting worse by the day. The fact that I have to live here with people that think like some of you disgusts me. The frequency with which you parrot Fox talking points is both funny and sad. You're willing to give up rights and freedoms just so a few brown people get hurt.

I will never, never be ok with the federal government kidnapping people with no cause and no due process. Somehow all of you "don't tread on me" idiots are now screaming "please tread on me daddy trump!". I hope you get what you want, and what you deserve.

Do you ever read and comprehend what people post? You, and two others, desperatly want to put words and thoughts into posts that aren’t there…or just ignore what they post. He stated very clearly that he was not okay with citizens being locked up or deported.

I am not going to put words into RobB’s post that he didn’t make. But my guess is he feels sort of similar to me. I would bet we both feel similar to you that ICE needs to change. ICE absolutely should not be wearing masks and they need better leadership to insure they are deporting the right people. But I am far less concerned about an illegal Abrego Garcia getting deported to his home country than why our leaders thumbed their noses at federal laws and allowed for millions and millions of illegals like him to easily enter in the first place. The previous administration made a mockery of immigrants who followed the protocols, many lengthy and time consuming, to join our country.
I would hope any decent Americans would support immigrants.

And yes libertarian. Anyone who spends a few minutes in most any classroom in Oklahoma can see the incredible cost illegal immigrant children place on education. So what does one party want to do to remedy ….tax people more to fund them!! Allow illegal immigrants to jump the line of immigrants and then take away freedoms of US citizens to fund it. SMH
Can you give any hard numbers for how many more illegal immigrants came in under Biden than Trump's first term? I'm being sincere here because I've heard the millions and millions said over and over but I've never seen what the actual number is.

That's all true. Title 42 which was a CDC policy for immigration during the pandemic expired and ALL of those people waiting at or near the border knew about it. It wouldn't have mattered who the president was, even though I agree the Biden administration should have made the border a priority. But yeah the number absolutely exploded in FY21 - FY24. Interestingly enough, it had almost doubled from FY18-FY19 while Trump was in office before the pandemic. Not sure what that spike is about because it went back down to average in FY20?

Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

I'm a little confused by your post. Are you saying we are the most powerful nation in the world despite doing this, or because we've done this?
Oh, definitely because. I was calling out the lamentation that was implying 'we don't take immigrants' when we clearly do. We aren't perfect. I don't like ICE going around in masks and I don't like the methods of what's going on. But this isn't some ethnic cleansing that's one step away from Nazi Germany like some are claiming. We're a diverse nation. We'll continue to be a diverse nation; but we can't have unchecked immigration. There's a balance here somewhere.

We are extremely diverse but using total numbers and not percentage can be misleading.

USA Immigrants: ~52,000,000 total population: ~340,000,000 = 15.2%
Germany Immigrants: ~15,000,000 total population: ~83,000,000 = 18.0%
Fine, let's us percentages.

Percent of population that are either 1st or 2nd generation citizens:
USA: 25%
Germany: 25%

We take in plenty of immigrants (and should continue to do so, legally). I'm going to stand by my initial assessment and say the meme's implication was garbage.

Thank you for recognizing your post was garbage.

I’m not really sure why you say the meme was garbage. It wasn’t, and @PF5 can correct me if I’m wrong, addressing the number of immigrants we take in but saying how we should welcome the ones that come here. At least that is how I took it.

Cant wait for people to defend deporting American citizens. Or more accurately come up with some "Biden did it first" whataboutism when maga social media figures out how to spin something

It's specifically targeting anyone that lied or concealed information to obtain citizenship. As in, they should NEVER have been granted citizenship in the first place.

THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE AWAY CITIZENSHIP! (from people who lied to obtain it)

I doubt that private prison companies like the sound of that. Did they fail to give Trump campaign money?

I realize we are not Nazi Germany, but I do wish we were better than this.

This problem would not even be particularly difficult to solve
- Have an efficient, useful work visa program that focuses on true needs.
- Have severe, business-risking penalties for hiring people who have no legal status to work here.
- Improve the asylum process so they can be reviewed expeditiously so that people pending decisions aren't in the country.

Long read, but this article is written fairly.

It's also targeting:

The memo claims such efforts will focus on those who are involved “in the commission of war crimes, extrajudicial killings, or other serious human rights abuses … [and] naturalized criminals, gang members, or, indeed, any individuals convicted of crimes who pose an ongoing threat to the US”.

Where do you think they're headed with that?

With their focus already on revoking green cards for incredibly minor law violations, it is far from a stretch to anticipate that they will use the same standard for going after naturalized citizens. Even if you believe what the Trump administration says is their intent and focus (and you would be an utter fool if you do), it's a very small leap to "naturalized citizens that commit any crime are an ongoing threat to the US" and get them out of here.

And then you have this....

Trump calls for deporting US citizens: "We also have a lot of bad people that have been here for a long time ... many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too, if you want to know the truth. So maybe that'll be the next job."

They are going after birthright citizenship before they solve the legal immigration issues. If they can get the court to deny birthright citizenship they will “reform” work visas. According to reporting 70% of field workers on California farms are not showing up. This will lead to higher prices. One supervisor made the statement that white people won’t do these jobs. I believe this also applies to most behind the scenes hospitality/travel jobs and a lot of construction.

So when/if you deny birthright citizenship then you can “reform” work visas to allow the brown people back in to do the jobs brown people have done since the founding of the country.

Also, you can’t have brown people coming here to work and birthing citizens (sarcasm).
