JD Vance: "The idea that Tim Walz and a bunch of radical are gonna go after and make this guy's life miserable because he was doing the job he was asked to do is preposterous. The unprecedented thing is the idea that a local official can prosecute a federal official with absolute immunity."

A hug from you would make me lose faith in this world for a long time....or 2 years. 🤣
to be fair letterkenny problems GIF

Two years is a pretty long time to lose faith in the entire world for.

The notion that JD Vance thinks that an ICE Agent has absolute immunity from State prosecutions......particularly one like this....is absolutely frightening.

The fact that he would publicly proclaim absolute immunity from state criminal prosecutions for ICE Agents is even worse. It indicates an "if you're with us, you're untouchable" mentality which is authoritarian in the extreme.

That ICE Agent has essentially zero legal immunity from criminal prosecution at the state level for a crime committed that state officials have jurisdiction over. Feds might have concurrent jurisdiction and be able to charge him as well, but murder isn't an area of federal exclusive jurisdiction at all.

edited for me to get more information.

It's almost like it was a really f*cking stupid idea to let para-military forces loose in large population centers in the country. Unless, of course, this was what some people wanted all along.

The phrase "absolute immunity" in this context is about as scary a thing as I've heard in a long time. I hope something happens to squash that kind of thought quickly.
Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of faith that it will

The Trump administration is really gambling here. They are outside of their authority with Venezuela, with ICE and are making bold faced, easily disproven lies and rationale behind it. The senate just checked the trump admin's authority on Venezuela, despite them really not wanting to.

The more unpopular they become the more "bold" people will be in standing up to them, even if it is for the wrong or selfish reasons.

How about the "peaceful protestor" not try to blockade LEOS doing their job?
You are comparing a person protesting to a "Federal agent" killing a mother?

Cogent argument there. Yea, I mean, we should just start murdering people. All these idiots in OKC running red lights, gun them down.

Gee I wonder why Hegseth wanted fast response National Guard units that could deploy bro every state last year

They aren't gambling....this is executing a plan

Obviously, they just don't need any help wrapping up this simple investigation.

It couldn't possibly be that they want to suppress all the evidence that might show that what @Rob B. is saying is nonsense, and they executed a woman for being scared and trying to drive away after being given confusing orders.
Nah, our government has not shown us any signs that they can't be fully trusted. That is the new republican thing- trust in big government.

"I got it all on video"

That used to matter. Now, their thug faces are covered, and they know their supervisors don't give a crap about lawless behavior.
His supervisors might not care right now, but we will see if they are able to get away with this long term. What they are doing is exactly how people start caring about justice actually being served. We know the perp's name: Jonathan Ross. Internet sleuths will release what he looks like.

The guys in that video can also be discovered. Its really easy for anyone with a small-moderate amount of money to buy metadata that identifies them. It can be done on anyone. You, me and also them.

The statue of limitations for state charges are longer than the trump admin will be around.

Questions for anyone that knows law enforcement training.

What is the appropriate command for LEOs to give when they want someone to stop the car, put it in park and exit the vehicle? Are there specific words/orders? Is there a “chain of command” so to speak as to who should give the orders so that no one gets confused? Is there rookie training and then ongoing training to keep everyone on the same page?

What is the proper way for a LEO to position themselves when attempting to prevent a person from fleeing? Also, instead of using personal positioning, are LEOs trained to work together to place their vehicles to prevent a vehicle from leaving?
