ICE

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are at the center of the national discussion on the Trump administration's immigration efforts, with the agency set to receive billions more dollars in the coming months.

With plans to hire about 10,000 new ICE agents in the next four years, the White House is hoping to attract new talent through a series of benefits and incentives.
...
ICE is set to become the highest-funded part of federal government law enforcement, with a tripled yearly budget of about $30 million. While funds are pumped into an agency that has claimed to be stretched for several years, actions of its officers—old and new—are coming under increasing scrutiny.
...
Salaries are being advertised as between $49,739 and $89,528 per year, with ICE stating that pay can be increased through overtime, as well as location-dependent additions.
...
Existing agents, along with those with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), will get a $10,000 yearly bonus for the next four years. New agents will also get signing bonuses, similar to those introduced for Border Patrol officers under the Biden administration.

The new budget also included provisions for additional bonuses, with agents able to receive extra pay for their performance, as well as for their commitment to an additional two years with the agency.
...
ICE staff, including agents, also receive benefits in line with other government workers.

They are entitled to health, dental, vision, life and long-term care insurance, along with retirement plans and flexible spending accounts.

Staff are able to receive between 13 and 26 days of annual leave, along with paid personal leave and federal holidays.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, in a July 4 press release: "This $165 billion in funding will help the Department of Homeland Security and our brave law enforcement further deliver on President Trump's mandate to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN!"

ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons, in a statement on July 3: "I speak on behalf of the entire agency when I say that ICE is grateful to President Trump for putting in the hard work necessary to get the Big Beautiful Bill across the finish line - but the real win is for the American people. The unprecedented funding for ICE will enable my hard-working officers and agents to continue making America safe again by identifying, arresting and removing criminal aliens from our communities. I'm thrilled to work with Secretary Noem, Congress and the president to protect our families, friends and neighbors."

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, on X, formerly Twitter: "With this vote, Congress makes ICE the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in history, with more money per year at its disposal over the next four years than the budgets of the FBI, DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prisons combined."

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, on BlueSky: "I don't think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA, & others combined."
..
DHS is expected to continue recruitment through the summer, at least, with the Trump administration promising to hire enough agents and staff to deliver on the president's promise to deport about 1 million immigrants per year.

What benefit to our country is there to remove Temporary Protected Status from people who have been in this country under TPS for decades? They’ve created homes and paid taxes and Social Security. They are our neighbors our family members and friends. But when the clock strikes midnight the day TPS is removed they are here illegally. What timeline have we created?

Do not ever profess faith, or pro family or pro life if you think removing TPS without some other safety nets for these families is instituted. Just say you’re a racist.

I think it really comes down to Stephen Miller having steep quotas for ICE to hit. They aren't going to even come close to those quotas going out and trying to find the few actual serious criminals here illegally. It is far easier to tell law-abiding people to show up at your office or go to their house and take them away.

The evidence that Miller is a racist is pretty strong. I think many people on the right/MAGA side have allowed their propaganda to get them so wound up that immigrants are killing people/taking jobs/ destroying our culture etc that they see these cruel policies as necessary evil to fix the harms they are fearing. Even if they are not true or at least greatly exaggerated.

It is interesting to see how the few right leaning people that post here tend to avoid certain threads and spend their time in others.
Miller is an interesting dude.
Made waves in high school in early 2000’s by claiming Santa Monica High School was a gang ridden hellhole.

Santa Monica at the time was fine. Affluent surfside city. Safer, cleaner than most of Los Angeles especially neighboring Venice Beach.

He gained national prominence during his time at Duke, he actively campaigned publicly especially on national TV defending the Duke Lacrosse team members being accused of raping a black stripper. He was frequently on cable news.

Fortunately/ unfortunately , he was correct that there was no assault and the charges were fabricated by an actual race baiting District Attorney

It gave Miller a profile to stay big in Conservative talking spaces and was a perfect fit for Trumps cabinet.

It’s even worse for me because before I grew my hair out and gained some weight, I vaguely looked like him.

$45 BILLION to build concentration camps. For profit concentration camps. I have zero doubt we'll see slave labor coming from these camps.

You know all of those "job openings" we have in the farms right now? Why not rent the same exact people who used to do those jobs back to the farms, but not actually pay the people doing the work? It's genius!

Germany had around 44,000 concentration camps, 6 of them being extermination camps. I'm sure Trump and Stephen Miller would love to surpass both of those numbers.

'God Created Us To Serve People': DHS Sec. Kristi Noem Makes A Mockery Of Religion, Claims She Is A 'Firm Believer' In Helping Others

During a conference at the CPAC Summit Against Human Trafficking, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem claimed she is a "firm believer" in the idea that God created people so that they can serve one another. Capturing nonviolent immigrants and tossing them in immigration detention facilities is quite the bizarre definition of "serving one another."

They have alligators in Texas?

There is one.

His name is Ken Paxton:

.......
Polling and Fundraising
  • Paxton currently holds a lead in the polls over Cornyn. Some polls show Paxton ahead by a double-digit margin, particularly among voters who identify as Trump Republicans.
Political styles and positions
  • Paxton: Has positioned himself as a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda. He's known for his confrontational approach and willingness to challenge the federal government and established institutions through lawsuits. This approach resonates with the more conservative wing of the Republican base in Texas. Paxton has also been plagued by legal issues, including impeachment by the Texas House (though acquitted by the Senate) and a pending securities fraud indictment.
  • Cornyn: Is seen as a more traditional, establishment Republican. He's known for his legislative experience and willingness to work across the aisle on certain issues, which has earned him criticism from some hardline conservatives. Cornyn has a strong conservative voting record but has faced scrutiny for his participation in bipartisan efforts, such as the 2022 gun control bill. ......

So, Cornyn, like nearly all politicians, cares more about keeping his job than anything else so he has to start sucking Trumps feet, too.
