Makes me think more about the report that Weiberg flew with some Influential money people to the Oregon game. I think multiple things were in play:
1. A personal view for what it takes to even have a chance. Are we going to spend $40 mil? No. Is $7mil going to do it? No. But both the $$$ and Weiberg got personal exposure to exactly how far we’ve fallen since 2021.
2. Those same influential people saw our product and enjoyed a 3 hour flight home with Weiberg and made it abundantly clear that they were over the current product, going back to last year. No money would be coming without real change. Not symbolic coordinator change which clearly hasn’t affected the product.
3. Those same people made a comments akin to “we better beat Tulsa…..” like, or else.
4. We didn’t. They triggered parts of their Oregon game discussions and here we are.
I wasn’t there but it adds up to how this has gone down and new claims of plenty of money to be competitive suddenly appearing.
