Survivors condemn DOJ's Epstein release as a 'betrayal'​

A number of survivors of Epstein’s abuse have released a joint statement condemning the DOJ’s latest files release.

"Once again, survivors are having their names and identifying information exposed, while the men who abused us remain hidden and protected,” the statement says.

“That is outrageous. As survivors, we should never be the ones named, scrutinized, and retraumatized while Epstein’s enablers continue to benefit from secrecy.

“This is a betrayal of the very people this process is supposed to serve.”

They add the justice department can not claim to have finished releasing the files “until every legally required document is released and every abuser and enabler is fully exposed”.

After a month of silence on the Epstein files, the Department of Justice (DOJ) now believes it has fulfilled the requirements of the law passed by congress, albeit after the deadline.

Democrats however continue to argue that the DOJ has withheld too many documents – possibly around 2.5 million – without proper justification.

The files that have been released do contain references to many public figures on this side of the Atlantic who have previously been associated with Epstein, including the former Microsoft boss, Bill Gates, who has vigorously denied one allegation of a sexual nature.

Donald Trump’s name does again appear – in one document there are a number of allegations about him from an FBI tip line, which investigators at the time deemed not credible.

When asked about the claims, the White House directed reporters to the part of the DOJ announcement which described some documents as containing “untrue and sensationalist” allegations against the president.

But while the DOJ believes its work is largely over, it’s unlikely that many in the Maga base will be content; they have long thought there was a conspiracy to protect the rich and powerful who were connected to Epstein – and even Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche acknowledged this would not end things –

There’s a hunger for information, he said, that this review would not satisfy.

Unfortunately, you have to be weary of super high functioning people, including doctors. There was a highly respected ER doc out of NY. He did a bunch of podcasts, wrote great papers, spoke at conferences. I booked to go to a conference in Australia only because he was going to be there. When I got to the conference I was disappointed as he cancelled.

Turns out a patient accused him of masturbating on her while she was sedated. Not to be rude, but this patient was not what most would consider attractive. I felt bad for him and assumed it was a shake down for money. Then another guy I worked with said in residency that he ended up on a double date with this guy and his wife, and he thinks he did it. Sure enough, they found his semen on her hospital gown. He went to prison.

Wrote a good book though.

As a nation, we need to set political differences aside and castigate these guys. Enough is enough.

Everyone is worried about someone who didn't molest kids being on the list. Well, I look at it similar to the immigration issue. There are people that are so anti-immigration that they don't care if the immigrant has been here 20 years and is good, they broke the law and they want them gone.

I don't care if you didn't molest kids. If you were associated with a known molester because you thought it could benefit you I'm not the least bit worried that your life gets screwed up for it if that is what it takes to get the dirty ones.

I know we’ve had some call for discussion but this right here is what makes it hard for me. Maybe that makes you guys a better person.

But you knew this guy was all over and in the Epstein saga. There’s not one decent thing about him. He cheated on all 3 of his wives and kids mothers. One we know was within 6 months of a child’s birth. He defrauded kids w cancer for goodness sake.

Documents include heavily redacted pages and email exchanges​

We've been taking a look over some of the newly released Epstein files.

In the first dataset, which is a stream of court documents, there are lots of heavily redacted documents and email exchanges.

Amongst them are psychological reports into Jeffrey Epstein while he was in prison and details about a laptop being delivered to Ghislaine Maxwell.

There are also documents in which whole pages are redacted, such as the one pictured below.
