Cowboys in the NIT

The last part feels like something a bunch of people said last year, & throughout the fb season.

I really don’t understand saying that the coaching was fine, blame it on the roster. These are the dudes he brought in and coached.
Yea it’s a roster construction and recruiting issue not coaching issue. An issue he appears to have solved. I’m willing to give him some room to build. But with the landscape of college athletics these days does the give them three years to build thing even still hold true?

Meanwhile, Ben McCollum is taking is Hawkeyes to the NCAA tournament as a 9 seed. Their first game is against Clemson.

A very quick glance (hopefully I didn't miss anything) shows that OSU had 4 wins against power 4 teams that made the tourney. Iowa had 3 wins against power 4 teams that made the tourney.
What stands out between the two is that Iowa played 8 games in Big 10 play against teams below .500 while OSU only played 2 games in Big 12 play against teams below .500 (would have been 3 if we had beaten Baylor, which would have knocked them under .500).

Switch the schedules and maybe OSU makes it and Iowa doesn't....or maybe Iowa still makes it and OSU still doesn't. I don't know.
I'm not saying I'm all in on Lutz, he needs to show something next year or it will be time to move on. Just saying apples to oranges.

‘Appears to have solved’?

Based on what. Hope for next year?

I appreciate the analysis, but using the eye test, I’m not that impressed with the players (except for Fallah) or the coach. But I see basketball thru my Eddie Sutton bifocals. He is a HOF coach and more than likely, Pokes will never see another coach like that. We caught lightning in a bottle. That said, NIL and the portal had some serious downsides. Thank the Orange god and big check writers who keep propping our athletic department up. Not sure how long this path is sustainable.

This team showed it could play quality basketball for a half or so. We have the ability to be a pretty good team, but we don't sustain it.

When you see Greg Sankey questioning the sustainability (he did that this week), you know it’s not without reason.

Great post.

We have a top 15 recruiting class. Bringing in 3 4-stars one of which is the number one in state kid. I’d say that’s better. Maybe solved was the wrong word. Improved
I'm hoping for the best but we'll be a young team, and I think a lot of people expect results in coach's third year.

Gotcha, I misunderstood your previous post. Thought you were saying the coaching was solved-which I think the jury is clearly still out on.

as for recruiting, that’s great & encouraging. They need to be a tournament team next year though. I mean, we’ve had the #1 class before and didn’t even make the tournament.
