Conference Realignment - What's next?

The Office No GIF

I wouldn't fault adding UConn (at this point Yormark has earned some leeway IMO) but after we give better candidates a chance to jump on. UConn ain't going anywhere, they'll still be there after the bigger/prettier fish have passed.

*Edit-I'll add; a UConn & Gonzaga basketball only add would be OK at any time

A recent Instagram post released by the Ohio State football mascot Brutus Buckeye alongside The Duck, the face for the Oregon Ducks, has a lot of fans talking. On Wednesday, the IG account posted an image of the two mascots standing together at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, and it was the caption that stuck out, in particular.

"BIG things coming," the caption read.

More likely they are announcing another home and home series or a season opener for TV matchup at JerryWorld or Atlanta.

Ugh. This is all awful. Let CU and neon Deion rot.
I’m getting some down voting on this, so let me explain. Colorado has been irrelevant for 20+ years. They will be irrelevant again after neon Deion. Deion will be there for 5 years TOPS. Either he will be exposed as a fraud and fired or he is legit and will move on to a bigger school or NFL.

The admin at cu hasn’t been serious about winning for a long time, and I don’t see it changing. So long term, this is stupid even if it is to break up the pac.

Breaking up the pac is worth it. Now oregon and washington apperantly are in play, which wouldn't have been possible otherwise and puts the pressure on the remaining pac 12 schools.

Big12 isn’t getting Washington nor Oregon, at least long term.
They aren’t getting into the B1G, they don’t provide enough value to match the current B1G payout. And USC, the B1G’s new blue blood doesn’t want anyone else on the West Coast in the conference.

If the B1G wants to do it, they will tell USC to suck it, just like SEC told aggy to suck it when adding Texass. Once USC and UCLA start dealing with travel costs of B1G league play, they are going to want west coast partners to save a little of that nice green B1G cash.

The B1G can WANT to add those teams all day long, but that doesn't matter. The issue is whether FOX/NBC/CBS are willing to pay for those teams to be added. Considering the mega deal the B1G made with those media partners is having issues already I am questioning if those media partners are willing to fork over another $180M.

That is why I stipulate Oregon and Washington won’t be “long term” additions to the big12. Things will change and the networks will agree. So long as the conference maintains interest, I will bet it will happen.
