Conference Realignment - What's next?

Baylor and Kansas play the SEC in the first round, really need them to win. Houston, Tech, ISU and BYU all have potential second round games against the SEC. If we go 0-fer in those games then I guess we can't complain. The Big 12 has had some great regular seasons only to underperform in the tourney. Maybe we can flip that script since we had a less than anticipated regular season.

Also can anyone explain to me why they couldn't just swap Arizona and Maryland? Doesn't it make more sense to send Maryland east and Arizona west? My guess is they spent too much time trying to justify their UT and NC picks to pay much attention to simple things like that.

There’s so many layers to how they set the bracket and choose locations. I agree though with the MD & AZ comment.

I’ve read complaints about how early the SEC teams May face each other too, which is nonsense. When you get nearly 4 teams in every region, including teams that won 33% of their conference games, just shut up.

Overall, I do think that there’s probably as much intrigue with this field as I can recall in years. I love having no prohibited favorite and a bracket where there are 10ish teams that really can win it all.

It's really weird looking at the schedule and not seeing Texas or Oklahoma.
The effect of them being gone is definitely setting in in terms of national discourse.

The discussion leading up to this season has been virtually entirely about the SEC and B1G, with a nod to Clemson occasionally. Sadly, the big 12 is strictly an afterthought.

Bedlam should be our Week 0 game every season, on-campus. We'd get a prime TV slot, we'd land Game Day some years, local and national media would talk about it. We had 1 true rivalry game, no matter how lopsided, and we've lost it.

We talked a big game after the OUT news and said a bunch of stuff. All of turned into nothing. We aren't going anywhere, Oklahoma is too small for the networks to pay for multiple programs at the SEC/B1G rates. It is time we do what we need to do to add as much value as possible and Bedlam brings in very good ratings and creates a wonderful energy.

It is good for us and it is good for the Big 12. We need the ratings and exposure on both fronts.

Bedlam should never be a 1st, last or anywhere in between game. Screw them and their two Pygmy horses pulling their ancient mobile home

I agree, but I also think that we’ve got to be aggressive in no conference scheduling and play an SEC or B1G team every year. If they get the 4 bids the SEC wants, I think you’ll see them more willing to play tough noncon games because they can lose and still have their CFP hopes alive.

For OSU, those type of games are the only path to being seen as relevant in the national discussion. As much as it used to sicken me to see the SEC rooting for each other, we need to have the Big 12 win as many of these crossover games as possible. Bowl wins won’t do it, regular season wins will.
