Conference Realignment - What's next?

I expect it to be pretty quiet for the next few days while schools get things sorted out internally. There will be rumors, but most will probably be crap. Then sometime next week at least one more jumps.
Three more will jump. That let’s ESPN and FOX have the G5 for fillers and to keep bowl games going.

I’d just like to congratulate you guys on a thread about Colorado joining the conference without the “Coach Prime” hype buy in. Excellent work! It’s probably been discussed but I’m too lazy to look. Aren’t the 2024 schedules pretty much already set? How do you just add another team at this point? Who’s getting left out in the reshuffle, a non conference beatdown game? And if so will those schools have to be compensated?

I don’t think non-conference will be affected. It’ll just be a rotating inter-conference schedule. Just like this year. You won’t face every team. I also think none of this will be sorted until we add the additional 1-3 teams and divisions/travel/etc is figured out.

But am I wrong (again) or won’t we be playing Colorado next year, or at least some teams in the conference will? Just wondering how they will fit them in if the schedule’s already set.

Conference schedules for 2024 won’t be made until sometime early next year. The 2023 schedule was released in January.C71C5522-BAFE-4BB8-BD1D-0ACCF015E6D9.jpg

@gopokes83 They are right on the conference schedules. They won't get made until later. As for the non-con schedules, there will be some games that need to be canceled. For instance, Colorado plays Houston in 2025/26, Kansas State in 2027/28, and Oklahoma State in 2036/37. Arizona if they join will need to cancel Kansas State in 2024/25 and Texas Tech in 2034. That tech game though is a reschedule of a missed COVID year game so not sure how they will handle that.

FCS opponents can be purchased last minute to fill any gaps. I'm pretty sure our Savannah State debacle was because Clemson had backed out of our home and home nonconference series after that round of realignment and we had to find somebody, anybody, to fill that slot, and it was Savannah State.

Some smoke that Arizona to the Big 12 might happen next.

If so, would yall be ok with ASU and Utah or do we only take 2 more if it's Oregon and Washington?
