This is different than a Mike Boynton drought, not better or worse, just different.
Not a lot of turnovers and deep threes (until that last shot), just not skilled enough to get a good shot, and have missed a few easy shots. it's still miserable to watch.

Played good D but man we struggle offensively and missing easy ones doesnt help
If guys miss a 3 or two they just fold. Mentally soft. Arturo is super fast but never shoots so they dive into the paint and are long inside to provide help defense. Davis has been Houdini. BT isn’t fast enough. The rest play iso until they jack up a shot. Hopefully they can find some rhythm at half

Disappointed Lutz didn’t take the timeout sooner on that run. When he finally took the timeout it was a 15-1 run, or something close to that. May not have made a difference…
I hope he coaches the boys to keep attacking the basket. Cannot settle for fall away jump shots, playing into the hands of the defense.
Also a lot of two hand checks by Houston, thought that was a foul by rule. Refs suck as usual.

Refs were pretty bad too. We got hacked bad on a few drives with no call.

I get the frustration but a Boynton team would be down 20+ at the half.
Held a team averaging 80 to 28. Problem on offense is we don’t have anyone explosive off the floor. No quick leapers or rim finishers. It’s allowing Houston to body the ball and then when we beat them the defender catches up from behind. They affected probably 8 drives this way. Then when you only have 1 shooter w length they can run him off the line and take chances w 2, 4, 5 and 14.
Side note. When we went up 17-11 refs called some really picky off ball fouls that changed how we were guarding the low post.

I just assume this season is going to be bad. I figure it will look a lot like Porter Mosser at OU where we get a little better each year until we are respectable again

Play defense like we have tonight without sending them to the line. Take care of the ball like we have for the most part and this team will win 7-10 conference games. That is a good 1st season.
2 steps too slow. He has 3 gears while others have 5. Always been this way. He’s gotten away with it at the HS level but been exposed in college. Now he can hit some 3s but with inconsistencies in college hoops. Guys miss 1 or 2 then don’t shoot anymore

He struggles against good teams. Is 0-4 form the field with 2 turnovers. Lutz benched him.

I can’t believe a kid around basketball as much as him would completely overhaul his shot like he has. No elevation. Starts from the hip and has a hitch w a slow release. He does everything you would take out of a shot

The refs letting UH be physical isn't helping matters. Needed a tightly called game.
