Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on Tuesday declined to condemn Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) for saying that "Muslims don't belong in American society."

"Look, there's a lot of energy in the country, and a lot of popular sentiment, that the demand to impose Sharia law in America is a serious problem," he said at a press conference during House Republicans' policy retreat at Trump Doral in Florida. "That's what animates me."

Rep. Ogles's social media post on Monday also declared that "Pluralism is a lie," adding in a later post that Islam leads to "rape," "beheadings" and "burning people alive."

Democrats quickly condemned the remarks as clearly Islamophobic.

"Andy Ogles is a malignant clown and pathological liar who has fabricated his whole life story," House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) responded on social media. "Disgusting Islamophobes like you do not belong in Congress or in civilized society."

Speaker Johnson said it was not the language he would have used but defended the sentiment, claiming that the "demand to impose Sharia law in America is a serious problem."

"We respect everyone's beliefs and their right to live out their beliefs and to speak freely about their beliefs and have that conviction. But when you seek to come to a country and not assimilate but to impose Sharia law … that is the conflict that people are talking about," he told reporters.

"It's not about people as Muslims. It is about people who seek to impose a different belief system that is in direct conflict with the Constitution. That's where I think that comes from."

I thought I was in some kind of time warp when Charles "Banana" McCall brought up Sharia law in one of his campaign ads. Now this from Johnson. Is this really a thing again? Are people really gullible enough to believe Sharia law is a problem in America let alone Oklahoma?

Yes, it's still quite important to attract votes from the poorly educated and gullible. And it was finally time to move on from attacking transgenders. Attacking green energy as a scam is trying to rise up as the next big thing.

Rumor has it that Muslims are trying to get dogs banned, since they think they are filthy animals. I haven't heard what they think of cats.

Its just blatant islamaphobia. Its the same strain of nonsense they have going on in Britain and France.

Muslims are 1.34% of the population in the US, ~1% of the population in Oklahoma, and 6% of the population in western Europe. There wont be sharia law anywhere in these countries.

The irony of this is usually the people most vocal about this are also the ones most likely to want some sort of "Christian Nationalist Law" like Doug Wilson.

Maybe she wants them to all wear something on their clothing to indicate their religion. That or concentrate them all in the same area where everyone knows where they are.

In normal times Id say who cares about this racist b**** and she can piss off. But this is someone who has the ear of the administration. And that is nuts.

Joseph Duggar arrested for allegedly molesting 9-year-old girl during Florida vacation​

Joseph Garrett Duggar was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl years earlier.

The former "19 Kids and Counting" star was arrested and charged with molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.


The alleged victim, now 14, told investigators during a forensic interview that the allegations happened while she was on a vacation to Panama City Beach in Florida with her family in 2020.

During the vacation, the former reality star allegedly asked the girl to sit on his lap, then he asked her to sit next to him and covered both of them with a blanket, the sheriff’s office said in a release.

The office said "Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs."

Duggar later apologized for what he allegedly did to the girl, and it stopped, officials said.

The girl’s father confronted Duggar about the crimes on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said, adding that Duggar admitted what he had done to him and police.


Duggar, who lives in Arkansas, is awaiting extradition to Florida.

He was booked into jail in Washington County, Arkansas, according to People magazine.

Duggar’s older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted and sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison in 2022 for possessing child sex abuse material.

Josh is expected to remain in prison until 2032 after his appeal for a new trial failed in 2023.
