Christian Nationalism

Yeah, I agree. A lot of these neo-stoic influencers seem like tools for some reason. Probably because they are influencers.

Yea, I find that Stoicism and/or the non-religious parts of Buddhism help me as I do tend to get wrapped up in things I can't control and all those type faults.

Holiday is irritating but is prolific. I think it would be hard to find a chill, cool guy that would put out that much content. So, I appreciate him but agree he isn't who I would want to hang out with. Sort of like Saban. If I was a Bama fan I'd love him. But would still know he has to be a total a-hole.

Agreed. I bought Daily Stoic's fancy copy of Meditations and subscribe to their emails that I try to read every morning. So I like his stuff, but yeah something about him.

Christ's return =/= the rapture and dispensationalism. Once that is acknowledged, the rest of the argument falls apart. They are trying to shoehorn and selectively read/quote folks to meet a narrative that is not found there. The author of that article also uses the shepard of hermas as a source, which is not in the bible.
While the second advent and the rapture are not the same thing, the rapture is a part of the second advent. Additionally, a belief in the rapture does not require a belief in dispensationalism. A pre-tribulation premillennialism view of the rapture doesn't even require a belief in dispensationalism. Accordingly, a belief that some type of rapture of the church (whatever that looks like) will occur does not equal a pre-tribulation premillennialist view or agreement with Darby.

With that said, I am tired of arguing. I like both you and Rx and will just agree to disagree. I'm also tired of hijacking this thread about Chritian Nationalism, which I hope we can all agree is not Christian and is abhorrent.

Yeah, its like that with a lot of tech youtubers. You get fairly good information, but the people are insufferable (I'm thinking of you Linus from Linus Tech Tips!).

simple question, or is it?!: how do you know/think you are going to heaven?
not looking at 100 word essays, just simple and straight forward, how do you know?

None of us can actually know that. It is a matter of faith. We are to live as if we are assured that it is true. But it is something that we cannot actually know.

Hebrews 11:1-2
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the men of old gained approval.

That reminds me of how I used to believe in Santa Claus, until my older brother convinced me he wasn't real. Not long after that a Christian lady showed up at the door wanting to save my soul for Jesus. If I only believed in him I would receive everlasting life. I was skeptical at first but to gain approval from my mother and the lady I eventually agreed to say I believe. So now as an adult agnostic, I won't argue with anyone who says Jesus isn't any more real than Santa Claus.

ok, Iĺl word it another way, what does your religion say? confess sins, ask into heart? can you lose your salvation? (´saved´ at 10, turn into a $h!tbag at 25, and don´t follow Christ anymore)
I guess what I´m getting at is if you believe in Christianity and salvation to get to heaven, what about all those souls who never even have an opportunity?

This is more about white nationalism than christian nationalism, but there is a good amount of overlap. Nick Fuentes identifies as a white christian nationalist.

Its really, really bad this is on the rise on the right and there will be repercussions. It also is a minoritarian position and has a hard cap of <30% of the population. This makes it a losing proposition and may be a death knell of modern conservatism.

There isn't going to be a single, straight forward answer to "what must you do to be saved?" But the best and simplest answer I can give you is the "Roman Road to Salvation", because it is the most widely accepted among Christian denominations:
  • Recognize sin: All have sinned and fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23).
  • Understand the consequence: The penalty for sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • Accept God's gift: God provides the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23).
  • Receive salvation: Salvation is received by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
  • Experience the result: Through faith, believers have peace with God (Romans 5:1).
Can you lose your salvation is a question that divides Christianity: Calvinists believe you cannot, Arminians believe you can. I could give you the theological arguments for both. There are evangelicals who are Calvinists. There are evangelicals who are Arminians. There are Protestants who are Calvinists. There are Protestants who are Arminians. It is something the Christian world will never agree on.

I was saved in a pentecostal church. Pentecostals are almost universally Arminian, to the point that if you die today with an unconfessed sin you are going to hell. I have heard that from the pulpit. I do not believe that for a second. That makes the blood of Christ pretty thin.

Calvinists would say that if you stray from the faith you were never saved to begin with. I've heard the justifications for Calvinism and from a theological standpoint they are convincing. But I've also seen peoples lives and what I've experienced hasn't been consistent with it. I dunno.

Those who never hear the Gospel in life is a topic of debate among theologians and scholars and I don't really have a great answer. I know that the only way to the Father is through the Son. But if you never hear the Gospel you can't reject it. I just have to trust that God is just and wise and will not condemn those who never hear and thus do not reject what they have not heard.

Straight out of the Trump/MAGA playbook on what to do when caught. Call it a witch hunt/hoax/fake. Sham investigate.

Beckwith, meanwhile, has dismissed the allegations and likened the accusations to having “the characteristics of a witch hunt.”

“As I started going down this process, there was nothing there, and I realized, do we have a video? Does anyone have—no, there’s no video,” Beckwith said. “I couldn’t find a video. I couldn’t find anyone who’s ever seen the video, and I quickly realized, okay, this has really got all the characteristics of a witch hunt.”

Beckwith said his office hasn’t used any sort of forensic auditing software to check for deleted videos on employees’ cell phones and computers during its internal investigation. Beckwith also said his office did not bring in a cybersecurity expert to conduct an independent forensic audit.

A Fort Worth church is offering a $100 online academy that aims to train conservative Christians to run for office.

At the core of the program is the idea that there is no separation between what happens within the church and in the government.

From article: “There is no greater calling than being civically engaged and bringing the values that Scripture teaches us into every realm of the earth,” Schatzline said.

What would doing the above even mean? To bring about a theocracy based on Old Testament laws and traditions? All of the Ten Commandments would be made into law? Selling clothes of mixed fabrics would be a felony? Other laws enforced based on strange and ancient nonsense?

Probably Paul's teachings in the New Testament would also come into play. So would bringing back slavery. The bible teaches that while the native born could not be made slaves, the foreign born could be. Today, that would suggest ICE could arrest immigrants and auction them off as slaves. It's hard to imagine how human slaves would fit into today's society not imprisoned. It's easier to imagine how you in the not-too-distant future could put the latest, advanced robot to work maintaining your garden or doing housework. And even going grocery shopping for you while not worrying about it wanting to escape from your ownership.

GOP candidate admits he was wrong about Muslims in Dearborn

Anthony Hudson promoted the rally with Christian nationalist rhetoric, suggested Marines and National Guard members would join him, and insisted 5,000 “patriots” were ready to march

However the Republican Candidate said he changed his views about Arab Americans after spending 72 hours meeting with residents and visiting three mosques. “You have all been lied to with the propaganda that’s going on about Dearborn, Michigan,“ he said.

Best part of the article is when he “admits when he is wrong” and then calls the reporter a “f&$king lesbian” and another homophobic slur.

What a time to be alive.
