Bedlam baseball

OSU hitters that started tonight
OSU has 2 hitters hitting Above.300
OSU has 6 hitters hitting below .300
And 1 hitter below .200

Bull crap on injuries every team has them You recruit everyone of these kids. Get them ready
2016. WS trip OSU was not a great hitting team. They played small ball. It's not sexy. But sometimes that what it takes and A LOT GRIT.
And two stud starters.
And couple solid bullpen guys

Josh is done. If Chad isn’t at least looking at future options for a baseball coach, then based on the total results of men’s sports recently he should be hearing footsteps himself. Another sub .500 football season and this athletic department will be in serious financial jeopardy. A school with our history in baseball and a palace for facilities should not ever come close to being this bad. This season is offcually done. Doubtful we’ll make the Big 12 Tournament and any post season play is out of the question!

At this point, the concern is recruiting will be difficult if not impossible. Nobody elite wants to come to a program that looks like this! I think this is the first bedlam game I have watched where the game was over in OU’s favor a third of the way through the first inning! At this point, only a big-time headline grabbing announcement of a new coach will turn this ship around! Delaying the inevitable will only make the goal of returning to an elite level all the more difficult to achieve! I can’t believe none of the elite former players we have aren’t screaming from the rooftop for change!

I agree and if you think the word isnt out on Josh and Walton in the baseball world, and has been for several years, you are awfully guilable. There’s a reason we have lack of quality depth on the mound and in the field to the point we don’t even put a strong 9 on the field when healthy and have not for some time.

Have never heard Josh quite that defensive publicly. His tone towards Rex was really inappropriate. That is probably some of what we hear from insiders of what goes on behind the scenes. As we've all said, it was an obvious question from Rex ... not a total softball question, but a legitimate question that needed to be asked after a performance like that. Josh is lucky he isn't in a bigger market or he'd have to face much tougher questions than that.
Like father, like son!!! 🤔

Caught some of his coach's show, not the whole thing:

1) didn't hear an apology to Rex

2) said Gary Ward's and his dads teams didn't play tough schedules (who cares? They were regulars in Omaha) like his teams have done for about the last 10 years. He said this as though he was somebody who has had great success and this was part of his recipe.

3) talked about how he used to hate striking out and would do anything to battle with 2 strikes, but kids today aren't that way, and he talked as though he has no control over it

Listened to the entire show. Definitely no apology whatsoever to Rex, I'm sure Josh feels he said nothing wrong. Lots of the usual excuses early in the show. The travel is tougher in the new Big 12, Tucson was a tough trip, they had travel issues on the way back and were tired on Tuesday. The record is poor because he chose to schedule tough and if he'd done what others had done and scheduled a softer non conference schedule they could have gone 14-2 in non conference and the record would be different.

The discussion on hitting and strikeouts was bizarre because as you said, Josh seemed totally detached from the issue and acted like it was completely out of his control. He talked about how he battled as a player and how he'd like to see the guys do more of that and focus more on making 2-strike contact but it just doesn't happen in today's game. I'd buy that if this year's team was the exception to the rule for Josh's teams but we all know the strikeout numbers are always high and 2-strike contact hasn't seemed to be much of a priority in the last 5+ seasons.

He was a bit defensive at the end, making sure people knew that they've had a lot of damn good teams around here over his tenure and won a lot of games and challenged the fans to be "loyal and true" and keep supporting the team/players.

All in all, pretty status quo from what we've all heard many times from him. He's well spoken and articulate, just wish we'd see some changes in the team's performance.

Loyal & True, eh?
I watched all 8 innings of that home Bedlam L. Would’ve watched all 9, but it took 8 for OU to run-rule us.
At our stadium.

It had all the usuals…
Absurd amount of Ks? Check
A Jones throwing error? Yup
Zero amount of smart/team-first/situational ball? Absolutely (I don’t count a successful sac bunt from the guy who has shown that’s almost all he’s currently capable of)

I saw routine plays look borderline difficult.

Fastballs right down broadway & the batter could’ve traded that bat for a camera; no difference. “No thanks, I don’t need assistance; I’m just looking!”
Then hack at a pitch they have 0% of even touching to finish off the K on a Ball.

At one point (7th? 8th?) we had the same amount of errors as hits.

And I’ll watch the next chance I get because I AM Loyal & True.
Doesn’t mean I don’t get to call $#!tty baseball exactly what it is.
I supported JH and can understand his options are limited due to injuries. He can stow that prick attitude though.

You are a better fan than I am, I can’t watch it. After what Holiday has done to some local kids I’m not so sure he shouldn’t be ran out of town. He hasn’t coached well, he has shat the bed in Oklahoma the coaches know he’s going to treat state kids like crap, and now he adds on being snippy? Don’t go away angry, just go.

One of the most delusional things I’ve ever heard.
Especially since we have actually lost many games to garbage teams this year. And a few of those losses were BLOWOUTS. The only explanation is exactly what Rex pointed out. Josh has lost the team. I think Josh snapped back because he knows it and was called out.
