Baylor at OSU

Listened to Kenny's show tonight, some things he said:

On Vanessa Shippy night:

"I don't think it could have gone any worse for her. We put her name on that wall, then I felt so bad for her, she's the hitting coach and we get shut out. I went home and I couldn't talk, I knew how bad she was hurting."

"I felt like a proud dad. I don't want to sound old."

On Meylan on Friday night:

"she was unbelievable. We should have had both outs at the plate. Their kid pitched lights out, we didn't hit any balls hard until late, but they got caught. We need to do more and do it quicker."

"We had a talk as a team last week, and had two of the best days of practice we had the entire year, but we just didn't go. I told them that the game owes them nothing....just because you practice good doesn't mean you get to win."

"They outcoached us, outplayed us. We didn't do enough."

On game 2:

Talked about the awesome alumni day, and Wyatt Hendrickson's win (compared it to Kirk Gibson's HR)

"I didn't sleep Friday. I got on the treadmill at 4:00 am, and said to myself, I'm going back to third base. This team is lacking something, it's lacking some kind of energy, and I can bring that at 3rd. I just don't feel right."

Talked about the current the players giving the alumni a letter jacket after 50 years, was very emotional moment.

"We went out and took care of business. Had a great tailgate, went home, and watched the wrestling."

Back to moving to third:

"I don't like the way this is going, but I know I like how we're trying to do it (referring to Coach Bergeron)|

Game 3:

Discussing the sequence where Warsop bobbled the ball, and Davis held it too long, allowing a run to score:

"We didn't play that well. We should have thrown it home immediately. It was a learning moment, and we're having a lot of those lately."

On Meylan again: "Unbelievable. She's going down a path of becoming the best we've ever had. Not just pitching. She's leading. She loves this place, she's wanted to have this stage, and this team."

"We're still not clicking just right like we need to. We're getting closer. Trying to understrand the importance of execution."

"I thought Katie Kutz bounced back and was awesome. On Saturday she was awful. Everything was down the middle. But I'll give her a bit of an excuse--she had not pitched in 15 days. The way she bounced back Sunday was awesome."

"RyLee Crandall is cleared, we didn't need her this weekend."

Also mentioned that the girls were begging Hendrickson to do the backflip, so he finally did.

"Coach Shippy sent me an instagram reel of the wrestling coaches hugging and celebrating, and I asked her why she sent me this? She said, 'that's going to be us.'"

As up and down as this season has been, it is really refreshing to have a coach that will be honest and not talk in coach speak (Looking at you Holliday)
