American Healthcare continues to go backward

C'mon Cassidy, you know what you are getting with her.

The easy follow-up would be, ok, which children would you expect the Individual doctors to leave unimmunized and which would you recommend immunization?
“I’m supportive of vaccination. I do believe that each patient, mother, parent needs to have a conversation with their pediatrician about any medication they’re putting in their body and their children’s bodies,” Means said.

I've said many times in this forum and the old site that as a pharmacist I would never tell a parent that they were incorrect to be concerned about adverse effects of any medication that they are giving their child, including vaccines. Here she gives a reasonable answer. But it is incomplete. The risks of adverse effects always have to be weighed against the benefits of the diseases the vaccines are preventing. Here she gives the rest of the answer:

When asked Wednesday if she’d recommend the measles vaccine to parents, Means said, “I believe vaccines save lives. I believe that vaccines are a key part of any infectious disease public health strategy.”

But then: She also refused to deny unfounded links between autism and vaccines, telling lawmakers, “science is never settled.”

Except when it's not science in the first place, but fraud. Oy.

WTF does he want, randomized clinical trials?

Lawdy, I hate that man.
It just gets better...
Beef Tallow is the healthy fat and high LDL is OK. Coming to a medical school near you.

Dozens of Medical Schools Back Kennedy Plan on Nutrition After Pressure

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the commitments in Washington, even as some in the medical community questioned whether the government should try to influence curriculums.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Thursday that more than 50 medical schools would embrace a federal framework for nutrition education, after a monthslong campaign to pressure universities into accepting the government’s curriculum recommendations.
.....
“This is how we implement the MAHA agenda,” Mr. Kennedy said as he debuted what he called “a transformative breakthrough in medical education that will reshape the way we train doctors.”

The push comes as the White House has made clear it would like the health secretary to pivot from contentious political issues, like vaccination, ahead of the midterm elections.
.....

None of the elite universities that previously reached funding-related settlements with the Trump administration — including Brown, Columbia, Cornell and Northwestern — joined Mr. Kennedy’s plan, even though they have well-regarded medical schools.

But Mr. Kennedy attracted a range of other institutions, representing about a quarter of American medical schools. Many are public schools in conservative states, including the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Florida, the University of Kentucky, the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech. Others are in more left-leaning areas: the University of California, Irvine; George Washington University; New York University; and Tufts University.

And at the same time the latest guidelines now want us to achieve LDL targets again, rather than simply putting patients on the correct statin intensity (and forgetting about it).

On Friday, August 29 at the European Society of Cardiology meeting in Madrid, new cholesterol guidelines from the European Society of Cardiology and European Atherosclerosis Society were released. This represents a focused updated to their previous cholesterol guidelines which were published in 2019.

Here are some of the highlights from these important new recommendations:

1) Aggressive LDL-Cholesterol goals maintained

The LDL-C goals from the 2019 guidelines were maintained in the 2025 update:
  • <70 mg/dl – For High risk individuals, including those with FH but without other major risk factors
  • <55 mg/dl – For Very High individuals, including those who have FH with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) or with another major risk factor
  • <40 mg/dl – For Extreme Risk individuals

Yeah, well...WTF do those idiots know?
It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the HSC campus, but I worked with and was taught by some freaking brilliant physicians while I was there, people who I still respect and admire, and this doesn’t reflect them.

Dammit this all really, really pisses me off.
