America Party

call me intrigued (I´ve been called much worse)...I would LOVE for a 3rd party to actually have influence and get the two ole parties off their pious arses...
I would love a 3rd party to do this also, but Musks party is not gonna do that. Best case, they sue a bunch of states on ballot access and make it easier for other parties to get involved.

If we want a multiparty system, we would need to change the structure of government to be more parliamentary in nature. Its not gonna happen. 2nd best would be rank choice voting.

All this party needs to do is win 3 or 4 congressional seats or a senate seat and they shut this mofo down

All I need is Elons wealth and I could do double that with my own party. Plus our NIL would be ssssswwwwweeeeeeettttt

Im joking but that would be a really tall order. For 3rd parties to be successful they have to start from the ground up. Win some local races where the name and message means more than the letter next to the name and go from there.

Starting in congress is tough because automatically you have two segments of the population who will refuse to vote for anyone not on their team. And then you havd two other segments who would like to vote for someone different but they fear their vote won't make a difference other than to hurt their normal candidate. And thats before you get to the point where you have to be the better candidate. And 3rd party guys rarely are because if they were they would have made noise in a major party before then.

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to see more optionality or at least 3rd party candidates with enough juice to force the main parties away from extremes. And whatever come of this will be well funded. But you still have a narcissistic dbag calling the shots. I'm not sure how that will play when he did everything he could to piss off as many people as possible the past year.

Remember when Elon did 2 Nazi salutes and went to speak at a far right (Nazi) conference in Germany? That was this year.
My bet is everyone agrees that Elon isn't the answer as a leader/founder of a moderate third political party.

Rank choice voting is our best bet to moderate the extremes of the two parties. That and open primaries where everyone runs in a single primary and the two top vote getters regardless of party head to the general election.

If the state supreme court gives the okay, petition promoters in Oklahoma want to establish an open primary. But Republicans, especially the think tank, OCPA are opposed, due to the risk that some Nov. elections will only have two Democrats to choose from. But chances are there will almost always be two Republicans to choose from. So I won't be surprised Democrats won't like it, either. I haven't decided for sure on it so hope the petition to advance it to a vote succeeds so it can be further discussed. That California uses open primary isn't a good enough reason to be against it.

Republicans banned ranked choice voting in Oklahoma. They also saw it as a loser for them. To me, it made voting harder, since you had to know the candidates better than before to figure out in what order to rank them.

Yes, Musk is too controversial in bad ways to try to be a founder of a third party. I'd rather see some other billionaire try to do it, such as Mark Cuban. But to represent middle America, it shouldn't have to be a billionaire.

I have to laugh every time I see "Republicans" who claim MAGA has a stronghold on Oklahoma quite literally pee their pants when the idea of open primaries (format you mentioned) get floated... What are they so afraid of if Oklahoma is as red as they constantly claim it is?

I would love to see an argument against ranked choice voting. Because I see no downside.

So Grok got its algorithm adjusted and has been spouting off antisemetic, pro Nazi and pro Hitler stuff today.

Musk thinks Grok is to woke so the algorithm is adjusted to be more like Elon. The result is Grok makes American History X look like sesame street.

My immediate conspiracy theory is someone at Twitter is a MAGA plant and they want to discredit Musk after he announced plans for a new political party. But considering the guy who was making nazi salutes a thing earlier in the year is responsible for this particular AI, well Im not going to be shocked if my random conspiracy theory is proven wrong.

These changes are the work of a whole team, so probably unlikely. Also, there are worse ones out there than the ones I posted. A lot worse.

Maybe the guy who did a Nazi salute is a Nazi after all.
