Twins traded 10 players today to decrease salary and they may be closer to team being sold for 1.7 Billion. They are the biggest loser today in trades and some are saying this is a fire sale or cleaning house to assist with selling the team to new owners. They traded 10 of 26 players on roster today and seems some players were requesting to be traded. They traded their highest paid player Correa, SS on contract back to the Astros and will pay the Astros 33 million. Correa had a no trade clause but he waived it and requested to be traded. He will start 3B for Astros who are on top of the standings. Badder and Castro, both outfielders were also traded and they were making $10 million or more per year.
They are basically out of the playoff race so maybe good opportunity for McCusker to be brought back up for the remainder of this season since they traded several starting OF today and Buxton is on the injured list again for ten days. Some of the Podcaster are saying Twins will be bringing up some pitchers and OF from the Saints that could include McCusker.
“The dismantling was swift and shocking. The Twins traded not only their rentals, but also their closer (Jhoan Durán was under team control through 2027), and their highest paid player (Carlos Correa was signed through 2028 with team options through 2032). They traded 10 players in all.”
