Wendell Gregory to Kansas State. That is a shocker. He supposedly was asking for more money than Tech was willing to pay. He also visited UT.

The current system sucks as a whole, but with the amount of money randomly distributed across a huge number of schools (and constantly changing based on donor activity), I can see how it would be foolish to not look around at as many schools as possible to potentially find life-changing money.

Imagine you are 20 years old and could stay at your current school and make $50k, but another random place offers you $150k or $300k or $500k for one season of work. Wouldn't it be somewhat dumb not to consider that?

On one hand, it sucks for fans of college football. On the other hand...some of these kids are getting pro-level money (or close to it), and it may change their life forever.

It’s more tax money for the government.

I agree. People want to act like it is a character/commitment issue but I don't know anybody that I think would turn down doubling or tripling their income to do the same job. In fact, it would be rather foolish not to at least consider that and weigh your options.

Someone in Drew Mestemaker's shoes could literally finish college and never work a day in their life, either in the NFL or at a normal job. Quite an amazing opportunity to give these kids a head start financially in life if they don't squander away all their earnings.
