The Republican National Committee (RNC) is now considering a draft resolution that would bring about a swift end to the 2024 Republican primary and cement former President Donald Trump's status as the de facto nominee.

According to a Thursday report in The Dispatch, the RNC resolution — proposed by Trump ally and Maryland RNC committeeman David Bossie — would be considered as soon as next week at the RNC's winter meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"RESOLVED that the Republican National Committee hereby declares President Trump as our presumptive 2024 nominee for the office of President of the United States and from this moment forward moves into full general election mode welcoming supporters of all candidates as valued members of Team Trump 2024," the resolution reads.

Under current RNC rules, Trump would have to win 1,215 pledged delegates from the various primaries and caucuses holding their contests this winter and spring in order to become the presumptive nominee ahead of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this coming July. Currently, Trump leads in the delegate race with 32 pledged delegates to former UN ambassador Nikki Haley's 17.

However, the RNC is within its rights to change those rules. Should it do so, it would effectively nullify the results of all upcoming primaries and caucuses after just two nominating contests in Iowa and New Hampshire. Haley's team pushed back against the resolution, and fired a shot across the bow at RNC chair Ronna McDaniel.

"Who cares what the RNC says?" Haley spokeswoman Olivia Perez Cubas told the Dispatch. "We’ll let millions of Republican voters across the country decide who should be our party’s nominee, not a bunch of Washington insiders. If Ronna McDaniel wants to be helpful she can organize a debate in South Carolina, unless she’s also worried that Trump can’t handle being on the stage for 90 minutes with Nikki Haley."

The next primary will be in Haley's home state of South Carolina in late February, which will also kick off the winner-take-all stage of the Republican primary, in which the candidate who wins a majority of votes will be awarded 100% of that state or territory's delegates.

Haley campaign lashes out at RNC, Ronna McDaniel over resolution to declare Trump presumptive GOP nominee

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley's campaign lashed out at the Republican National Committee and its chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, Thursday over a resolution that the party is considering to declare Donald Trump the presumptive GOP nominee.

"Who cares what the RNC says? We'll let millions of Republican voters across the country decide who should be our party's nominee, not a bunch of Washington insiders," Haley campaign spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas told Fox News Digital.

"If Ronna McDaniel wants to be helpful she can organize a debate in South Carolina, unless she's also worried that Trump can't handle being on the stage for 90 minutes with Nikki Haley," she added.

The RNC is reviewing a draft resolution proposed by RNC committeeman David Bossie, a former 2016 Trump campaign official, to declare Trump the Republican Party's presumptive nominee for president, despite Haley's vow to continue her campaign into her home state of South Carolina for its primary next month.

Haley is the only remaining challenger to Trump in the race after the latter won convincing victories in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries.

The RNC did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

Clearly the Republican Party doesn’t care about the actual opinion of the voter. Why not just declare him president like they really want to do?
there were several people on this very board squawking about the DNC doing the same thing for Biden and destroying the DNC and calling them out for ignoring their voters and their party and saying it was all because there was Fear that Biden couldn't win his own primary.

Not hearing anything out anyone over this and calling out the RNC for trying to do the same exact thing for Trump.

Odd how that works.

Most of the squawking was about the DNC trying to keep their opponent (Trump) off of the ballot. Not even remotely the same thing. Damn the RNC for doing this!! Don't they care about the actual opinion of the voter ( which has already been clearly demonstrated through a rigorous primary campaign including several debates with several candidates)!!!! What the RNC is doing is a clear and obvious threat to democracy as we know it!!! Feel better?

Individual states were removing Trump from their Ballots via suggestions from their Attorney Generals which then was going to the State's Supreme Courts for Review where then State Supreme Courts would hear arguments and testimony from the state AG and State Lawmakers......

How you think the DNC #1 was doing that, and #2 had enough power to even force an issue to a state Supreme Court is beyond me

RNC Committeeman From Maryland Withdraws Resolution to Declare Trump Presumptive Nominee

David Bossie proposed the draft resolution, obtained by the outlet The Dispatch, which comes after RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel called on Republicans to unite behind him after Trump’s victory in New Hampshire

An RNC committeeman from Maryland has withdrawn a resolution to declare former President Donald Trump the presumptive nominee for the upcoming election.

A source familiar with the situation confirmed the news to The Messenger after CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported it Thursday evening.

Bossie proposed the draft resolution, obtained by the outlet The Dispatch, which comes after RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel called on Republicans to unite behind him after Trump’s victory in New Hampshire.
A key part of the resolution said, “RESOLVED that the Republican National Committee hereby declares President Trump as our presumptive 2024 nominee for the office of President of the United States and from this moment forward moves into full general election mode welcoming supporters of all candidates as valued members of Team Trump 2024.”

Under current rules, Trump is still required to win 1,215 nominating convention delegates to become the GOP unchallenged presumptive nominee. But the resolution would begin the process of the party working with Trump as if he already has done so.

Trump took to Truth Social to say, “While they have far more votes than necessary to do it, I feel, for the sake of PARTY UNITY, that they should NOT go forward with this plan.”

You are lauding the debates when the early-primary declared “winner” didn’t feel able to participate in a single one of them? So, no debates and no finishing the primary for a candidate that has clear concerns about his mental stability. What a great system to pick the most important job in the world.

Just unbelievable that you find this acceptable. No wonder we get such losers as our leaders.

You stated that the Republicans clearly don’t care about the opinions of their voters. I simply pointed out that they had several debates with several candidates that gave their voters a chance to vote. Trump just simply took a page out of Bidens playbook. They can have 40 more debates and/or primaries and it won’t change the fact that we are stuck with Trump. Didn’t say I agreed with any of it.

Just so I understand the argument you are attempting to make (but will NOT claim that you agree with, just making a random argument but claiming the right to disagree with it) because the party had debates (that the anointed one refused to attend) and the party held a caucus and a single state primary, you (or the argument you are making that ISN'T you) feel that is sufficient to cover the actual opinion of all voters who are not in NH or Iowa?

I mean, why have nationwide elections at all? You (oops, your non-committed "point") states that just having a few voluntary debates and then having some type of vote in a couple random states should cover it, right?

You vote in a debate? What are you talking about? Having debates that didnt include a majpr candidate and then not letting people vote after the second of 50 primaries. So only the first two states opinions matter. Got it. Hey at least the rest of the states got to watch some of the candidates debate.
