It might be more about if the US goes to war with you, don’t worry, they’ll leave. The last Americans that truly understood total war are in their late 90’s and 100’s.

Todays army believes in honor on the battlefield while those that side against it have none. There’s no winning total war unless you’re willing to go to total war. In those terms, the US is weaker.
