Sad that ever increasing debt is not a top issue. There is no roadmap to address this and no leading elected official is serious fixing this.
It is sad that we can’t seem to repeal Trump’s enormous tax cuts to the rich, who continue to push for more so the Reps can claim the need to cut social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and anything else that helps the majority of Americans. But seriously how do you negotiate with persons and a party that have sold their souls to the criminal charlatan cult leader Trump? How do you change their delusions? What happened to restraint, fairness, and most importantly truth. Biden is striving to reduce the debt by making freeloading corporations and upper income persons pay their fair share. Over time this will start to reduce the tab for Trumps gift to the wealthy. So don’t say no elected official is dealing with the debt, that’s a partisan LIE. Or perhaps you justify this LIE because you believe Biden wasn’t actually elected. Give Democrats the House, Senate, and the Presidency and hide and watch how much gets fixed rapidly. If you study history Democrats routinely have fixed or attempted to what Republicans have far too frequently messed up. IMO

Name one current elected official that has been remotely serious about fixing the debt burden. Just one.
He literally just said Biden wants to raise taxes on wealthy and end loopholes for large corporations. The point is to help reduce debt burden. Those discussions arent even possible with Republicans wanting to lower taxes on wealthy and refusing to talk tax reform for companies.

If you think Biden has been serious about reducing debt…then I don’t know how to address that. I hope you realize he has not been. A solution to take more money from the people that already pay the taxes is just a solution to continue spending growth. Half of Americans pay 98% of income taxes. Top 10% pay 76% of taxes.

Our debt problem is not revenues. We are at historic highs for income tax revenues…but our government spends like drunken sailors. If our 2023 spendings was the same as 2019…we would have had a budget surplus of over +$500B last fiscal year!

Our elected officials have poor fiscal responsibility. They spend because that helps them keep power.

What did the global pandemic do to our debt ? Apparently, you believe a president with a divided Congress can just snap their fingers and debt magically disappears. Sounds more like a republican wish than actual policy. By the way what does the Republican platform state their plans are? Oh, that’s right they don’t have one except whatever DJT wants.🤢🤮

You continue to attempt to make this an item about a particular political party. When I said no current elected official is serious about the debt (or for that matter SS)…I was talking ALL.

You’re not convincing me that the Dems are just as guilty of running up the debt when compared to the Reps. Whether you’ll admit it or not there is a huge difference between giving enormous tax breaks to the rich in order to keep those big donations rolling in, and stimulus packages that rebuild infrastructure and employ millions of average Americans. My late father said “Republicans are great at getting elected, but piss poor at governance.” I see no reason to change my beliefs. Look at the most do nothing House as an example. Hell, they eat their own.
