Who Should OSU Hire as Next Basketball Head Coach?

That's a salary on par with McDermott, Underwood, Smart, etc... who are all coaching in the Sweet 16 right now. Bold demand if this is true.

I am excited about the hire but 7 years is insane. If he sucks then you have Ford and Boynton all over again.

I mean, maybe that’s better than getting a contract on the cheap and immediately having some d!ckhead coach demand huge extensions and raises the very next year for winning one game. I would hope Chad Weiberg learned from that and let Lutz know coming in we don’t talk raises and extensions until you win XII titles and have us past the sweet 16.

Anyway you look at it, getting an almost 6x raise in what you are currently making to come here isn't realistic.

We don't talk raises until then and you damn sure better deliver. With unyielding salary demands comes unyielding scrutiny on results.

This report from Ch. 4 is hard to believe. The buyout provision in his contract is basic, simple, and clear. It could be OK St. wants Lutz to pay all or part of the buyout from HIS New OK St. salary. WKU has never had any problem with any other school paying contract buyouts.

Here is a copy of that section of the Lutz WKU contract.

Do you think they could be planning to stall this thing out until after May 1st?

Probably time for reassessment of the decision if one has been made and further consideration of other available viable options.

All of you…….

Remember the “media” source that is saying the part about the request for the big contract is the same “media” source that had Gottlieb on the radio to plead for the job and has been saying Gottlieb should have the job.

Based on what?? Everything being mentioned is not credible.
Maybe, maybe not. However, hiring decisions are most always fluid with more than one options, therefore, reassessment is not a bad thing by either party, if the parties are having issues in coming to an agreement that is acceptable to both. JMSAO.

But the fact that the university didn't announce the hiring of a new coach before even firing the old coach is proof that this coaching search is both a mess and/or the job isn't desirable.
It's not proof of that at all. You fire your coach and you have a list of coaches you would like to hire. You work down the list.

That's not a mess, and the job at OSU is desirable. The way some people talk about us is that we haven't been to the NCAA tournament since Lincoln played forward for Illinois.
