They are playing a dangerous game. This could turn people onto the fact that they have been lied to and conned. Hungry people generally want concrete answers.

In today’s America. The wealthiest country to have ever existed. The top 1% own 31% of the US total wealth. The top 10% own 70%. The bottom 50% own less than 3%.

Data is all over the place but anywhere from 50-70 percent of snap recipients work. Doesn’t say how many hours or what jobs.

I am not suggesting redistribution through government means. But why do we have such low minimum wage and argue that by increasing it would cause inflation, and stay mostly silent when executive and CEO pay has risen exponentially higher?

Im surprised people still believe increasing the minimum wage will cause significant inflation. We must have gotten a heck of a minimum wage increase the last 4 years. Wait, no that was a combination of supply chain issues caused by the pandemic and companies maximizing profits because they could use supply chain/lack of employees/other industries raising input prices/ect.

This is so common that it almost isn't even news. Way back when these stories first came out, everyone was shocked. Then everyone was shocked again when the complex organizational cover-ups were discovered. Now, it is basically an expectation. The only shocking then for me is that people still put their children in situations where they can be alone with people at churches when churches have not shown any desire or ability to protect them.

I was saved in an Assembly of God church and attend an Assembly of Got church now. This is a dodge. The Greek word used in the NT for forgive is “aphesis” which means to release, as in to release the debt. The concept is that we create a debt by sinning, against God or against the person we sin against, and forgiveness releases the person from that debt. But the only one who can release the debt is the debt holder and that is the one who the sin was committed against. In the case of sexual abuse, it is the victim.

Releasing the debt also does not mean that the person gets to go back to what they were doing before. Reconciliation means that the sinner and the person sinned against are returned to a right relationship, but it may not be the same relationship it was before the sin. Reconciliation requires repentance on the part of the sinner. Forgiveness does not, it only requires the person sinned against to forgive. Restoration means that the relationship is fully returned to the condition that it was prior to the offense. Not only does it require repentance but it requires contrition, rebuilding trust. It is very difficult to accomplish.

Think of it this way, you borrow a large sum of money from a bank. When the note comes due you can’t pay. The bank decides to forgive the loan. Will the bank ever do business with you again? What would it take for the bank to do any business with you again? What would it take for the bank to ever give you another loan? This is forgiveness, reconciliation, and restoration.

For a denomination, the Assemblies of God understands this poorly, as do most evangelicals.

This is what the Assemblies of God and other churches are doing when they “forgive” sexual predators and “restore” them to ministry positions. They aren’t the ones who were sinned against and therefore they aren’t the ones who need to release the debt. And before ANYONE should be RESTORED to a ministry position there needs to be repentance, contrition and recompense, if rebuilding that trust is possible at all.

HacklemanPoke can’t absolve me of the debt I owe Steross. People who stand in the pulpit and preach don’t seem to understand this concept. It’s what Jesus is talking about in Matthew, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation.

Matthew 5::23-24
Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering
