No, everyone did. All those "this is war" type online posts went to pray for peace and understanding real quick. For a while that was a pretty safe assumption-heck here when it first started coming out who he was I mentioned that we were still jumping the gun too quick (because our thoughts on his ideology did a complete 180 based on an initial assumption) but as the mountain of evidence that he was likely far right was shown it seemed pretty clear to me. Heck I thought the trans partner thing was made up (and Im not convinced it isn't) because the right couldn't handle that one of their own may have killed the guy the spent the past 48hrs white knignting. Heck look at ryno-he was practically giddy when he found out it was someone he was ok attacking. That was pretty much the assumption for about a day until it wasn't.
And the thing is we still don't know his motivation. Maybe Kirk was secretly gay and rejected the kid. Maybe he was a gamer and this was a roblox beef gone wrong. Maybe the kid was just a nutcase with access to a weapon and Kirk was a convenient somewhat random target. We have no idea yet.

Absolutely everyone did not. As you point out later in your post, some people were always convinced he was a lefty. But, MOST people did not have an opinion as to his ideology because we didn't know. It may not seem like it because of the myriad posts on social media, but most people wait for information prior to jumping to conspiracies.
On this forum, we certainly had posters repeatedly making posts claiming he was Republican/MAGA. One even cut-n-paste a photo from a far-left blog stating his dad was a 3%er and "facts" about donations to Republicans. Maybe some on here fell for that, but most level-headed people take the time to think critically. I truly don't understand why someone has the motivation to jump to conclusions and don't understand the need to be defensive and make claims about which ideology has more violence.
Not sure why you doubt law enforcement, evidence, and the Utah Governor...but it is fair to be skeptical of information until enough evidence is presented. I don't really care if his roomate/boyfriend/girlfriend is trans. And again, I don't care what his ideology is. In most all of this cases, it doesn't matter. It is just a disturbed individual that is easily influenced to commit violent acts. Those disturbed individuals are not specific to any ideology. I think your second to last sentence is likely correct "the kid was just a nutcase with access to a weapon and Kirk was a convenient target"
Im not talking about here only. Disregard the caption as we don't have the full story but here are tweets from a sitting congresswoman. If congressional leaders thought the dude was super right wing, can you really blame people on Facebook or online message boards?

That is EXACTLY what I said on my previous post. “You had the MAGA and far-right convinced from the beginning he was a lefty.” Rep Mace is definitely MAGA.
And yes I can and do blame idiots for following people that have a history of distorting the truth and jump to a conclusion without waiting on evidence.

Yep. I would say it was more than far right. My initial thought was probably someone on the left side of the fence. A well known very conservative activist was assassinated. Seemed pretty logical that someone on the other team did it. Then we find out the alleged assassins background and it seemed pretty logical he was wayyyy on the right side of the fence. Heck, I even bought that the gropers or whatever they are called like to plant false evidence (i.e. his bullet casing inscriptions) just to confuse people.
Now, who knows? If the dude really was trying to troll everyone then he did a great job.
What is your point in all of this? Are you upset people jumped to conclusions here when EVERYONE was doing it? That was a huge incident and people are going to talk about it. And no one was saying just the facts and nothing else in the 48-72 hrs after it happened when his suspected political ideology was changing by the hour.
Not exactly what you were saying. The second tweet is a right winger thinking the suspect was now a right-winger as well and changing her tune. The point being it wasn’t crazy for independents, liberals, and lefties to consider the same thing. Especially considering Mace and several MAGA voices were spreading their opinions on broadcast news and their very public social media accounts. Meanwhile, we’re talking to a few dozen folks on a small market collegiate sports team message board.
I didn’t post anything about him being leftist/MAGA/etc. either. Yet I’m not crowing about it and claiming others are idiots. But whatever floats your boat, man.
You missed the one where she said it was done by a "tran***", maybe 20 minutes after it happened.

Like I said, there were many who were absolutely giddy when they realized he wasn't 100% like them. The more this plays out the more it (the reaction from MAGA all the way up to the Whitehouse) was never about Kirk in the first place. It was an opportunity
