I haven’t seen any of his comment about AA that were racist. The videos of Kirk that I’ve seen on the subject show him pointing out that those that get in thru lower standards can take a spot from those otherwise qualified. And that merit should be the same for all.

Whether "you don't have the brain processing power" is racist or not is debatable, but saying it about a black supreme court justice doesn't advance respectful debate as they are all claiming he promoted.

I guess my concern with the "Let's all be treated equally" is there is plenty of evidence that black people have not in any way been treated equally in our society. Educationally and economically, data shows they have fallen behind. So, is it more reasonable to make small allowances to promote catching up or is it better to say "Sorry about your luck, but you will have to overcome historical disadvantages to ever be chosen. That is what is fair"

Also, this isn't a US problem, it is a human problem. A doctor in the training program I ran in Aus was from Zimbabwe. Brilliant man. Not only would I trust him to care for my family, he did care for my family. Yet, while passing the EM written test with no issues, he repeatedly failed the practical bedside exam. Tried 3 times. I talked him into a 4th. Failed again. The next year this article came out with extreme different pass rates for white vs other candidates. He works as a GP even though he should be a fully qualified EM doc.

I started to say the problem is that conservatives don't view anything less than N bombs as racist but when Morgan Wallen was caught on video dropping an N bomb they sent him straight to the top of the charts and when a white woman was on video hurling racist slurs at a child they raised $800,000 for her. So it seems more like a good chunk of the country approves of blatant racism they just deny it exists when the time comes.

Bless your heart. You must be too young to remember all the political assasinations and unsuccessful attempts that went on beginning in 1962 with President Kennedy getting killed. Even John Lennon got killed. The Texas Tower Massacre was quite chilling how such a thing could happen in the U. S. 8 nurses one by one got murdered by a stabber with a knife. In 1967, 43 people got killed in a Detroit race riot. Reagan nearly got killed in 1981. I guess that's good for starters. At least things settled down some after 1981.

I was speaking of mass shooting events, not assassinations, and seeing a correlation between the frequency of those compared to what's changed within our society. Again, over 50% have occurred the past 20 or so years. If you don't believe social media and interacting online hasn't lead to several issues we see today... I'm not sure what to tell you. There is a DIRECT connection between social media use and adolescent depression. We are just now learning the impact it's having and I truly believe, we will see a DSM diagnoses in a future edition.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) alerted the FBI in July about troubling social media posts that have since been tied to the Evergreen High School shooter. The information, however, did not include the suspect's identity or location, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the case.


The ADL is a watchdog group that tracks hate speech and extremist activity online. The tip they provided to the FBI reported disturbing online discussions about carrying out a mass shooting. The FBI confirmed it opened an assessment based on the information but was unable to identify the account holder before last week's school shooting.

FBI's assessment​

The FBI told local media its New York field office launched an investigation in July into a social media account that referenced planning a shooting. Agents pursued leads to try to determine who was behind the posts, and the investigation was active on the day of the shooting.

"During the assessment investigation, the identity of the account user remained unknown, and thus there was no probable cause for arrest or additional law enforcement action at the federal level," the agency said. The FBI added that it reviews all tips and takes action when credible information is found.

ADL confirms tip sent to FBI​

Oren Segal, senior vice president of counterextremism and intelligence at the ADL, confirmed that his organization provided profiles to law enforcement over the summer.

"The ADL Center on Extremism regularly shares alerts and updates with law enforcement," Segal said. "We shared profiles and activity at the time with law enforcement for actions they deemed necessary based on what was available."

Segal noted that investigators later determined those profiles were connected to the 16-year-old responsible for the Evergreen shooting.

Well, if that's the case then heads need to roll. Just like 9/11... you have to take threats seriously these days and not allow information to be stacked on a desk or brushed off. Agencies and LEO need to communicate.

We saw this first hand in Sutherland Springs, Texas with the church shooting. The person who killed those people had a dishonorable discharge and arrested while serving for DV. He should have NEVER been allowed to own a firearm... the Air Force dropped the ball and people died because of it.

I did a quick deep dive into mostly school shootings and/or school age shootings and there seems to be quite the uptick in school shootings following the covid shut down. Many seem to blame the mental and behavioral decline of students returning from the pandemic/shut down. Gun sales also soared in US during the pandemic! School shootings soared after the pandemic and are holding steady, whereas, adult shooting rates returned to pre-pandemic levels starting around 2022...again, this was just a quick research that I did, but I do believe the shut down greatly affected the mental health of young people, and to some extent adults; mixing in the high access to guns.
Mental health is obviously (to me) a problem in our society, but personally I would like to see another ban on assault weapons. One study showed that 1/3 of mass shootings (defined as four or more shot and killed) and 52% by handguns...however, a majority of the deadliest shootings involved assault rifles. (one report said 85% of mass shooting fatalities were the result of assault rifles). Further, mass shooting homicides in the US were reduced during the federal assault weapons ban (1994-2004)

A Brandon man was found dead Monday afternoon in a wooded area off Washington Street. Vicksburg Police Capt. Curtis Judge confirmed that this incident is not related to the Delta State University incident.

I found it rather Interesting that the Sheriff in the Delta State case announced there was No suspected foul Play and it was a suicide....before the coroner report was completed.

Maybe there was a note or something but most generally you don't have a Sheriff saying it was a suicide and no foul play without a coroner report. They might say things like we "Suspect" it was a suicide or We "Do not think" there was any foul play etc etc.

Seems odd to make such a definitive statement about it before the actual death and reason for death has been examined and determined by the coroner.
