US continues to go backward...

What has happened recently at the CDC and NIH is beyond terrifying. We can no longer trust any "science" or recommendations coming from those agencies. Top scientists have been fired, or have resigned, and replaced with political and religious ideologues.

They are well on the way to banning all vaccines, causing irreparable damage to the health of this country.

If you believe in God, start praying.

You want me to behave like the current republican party?

Let it happen. My kids are fully vaccinated so Im not worried about them. By the time they have kids we will have enough first hand experience with how horrible it can get if we stop vaccinating that no one will question it. If some idiots kids die because they didn't pay attention in health class that's on them. Heck if it thins out the home schoolers* a bit society will be better for it. Less morons out there creating more morons.

*I have no issue with home schooling if the parents know what they are doing. That isn't always the case though.

Texas politicians created time for organized prayer in schools. Now, they’re pushing students to recite a prayer “taught by Jesus Christ.”

Let’s be clear: It’s not the government’s role to decide what children should pray — or whether they should pray at all.

F this guy......

Why Lawmakers Don’t Want to Ban Their Own Stock Trading

GOP Rep. Rob Bresnahan campaigned on ending the practice, but has become a top trader after entering office

  • Rep. Rob Bresnahan opposed congressional stock trading during his campaign but traded actively once in office.
  • Lawmakers are hesitant to ban stock trading owing to financial impacts and note that insider trading is already illegal.
  • Proposed bipartisan legislation aims to force the sale of stocks within 180 days or impose fines on lawmakers.

how difficult is it to acquire Canadian citizenship? asking for a friend...

I think you need to have employment there. Some countries will let you in if you have a financial investment (real estate) in that country. The easiest is Ireland but you need to have a parent or grandparent that is a citizen.

Last week, Texas legislators passed a bill that allows private citizens to file lawsuits for at least $100,000 against anyone who manufacturers, distributes, prescribes or mails abortion medication to Texas residents. The legislation included language saying that abortion shield laws cannot be considered a legitimate defense, and that countersuits from providers in shield-law states should be blocked.

At the same time, states with abortion shield laws are passing measures to strengthen them.

Couldn't the New York legislature pass a law that states that any New York resident sued under this Texas law can countersue in New York for frivolous lawsuit or something like that for at least $200,000?

We are no longer the "United" states of America. Just some states that share borders. If I do something legal in Colorado that will get me arrested as soon as I cross into Kansas, that doesn't sound very united.

Where do Texas Republicans get such ideas for public schools? Is it quite typical for private religious schools to hold prayer, probably teacher led, at least once a day?

Are the Ten Commandments posted in most private religious school classrooms? An interesting question to ask, because if Texas is going to require the Ten Commandments be posted in public school rooms will private religious schools be required to do the same thing to get vouchers?

There is a very serious Constitutional question/issue with whether or not State #1 has the authority to prosecute actions that weren't committed in State #1. States' criminal jurisdiction does not extend beyond their borders.

That's why you're seeing all these attempts at "civil court" work-a-rounds. Even then, there has to be at least minimal contact between the parties and the forum.

That's also why you're seeing attempts at making it a crime to leave the State or to assist someone to leave the State to do something that is criminalized in that state somewhere where it is actually legal. They think that's a work-a-round, but IMO that is unconstitutional restriction on freedom to travel as well.

Police in Florida have charged a prominent Assemblies of God pastor with “knowingly and willfully” failing to report allegations of child sex abuse to authorities.
