US continues to go backward...

This is a “US Continues to go Backwards” thread. Do you think you post articles from multiple perspectives/sides? Or do you really believe US is going backward due to all or mainly one side?
I'll bite.

I think both sides have their issues, for sure. Before trump, I do think there were a LOT of things wrong with the government. Mainly that we've become a corporatocracy / plutocracy. The Dems are to blame for plenty of things, and plenty of things needs to change.

But, burning the entire thing down is not the answer. MAGA is not the answer. Christian Nationalism is not the answer. Authoritarianism / Dictatorship is not the answer.

Trump and Co. are actively destroying all parts of the government for their own good, it has zero to do with benefitting average Americans. IMO, we are already in authoritarian rule, and only slipping further each day. The goal of trump (really stephen miller and the techno elites) is to eliminate the middle class and create a country full of worker bees. Privatization of everything.

So, yes, I think there are a ton of aspects of the Dem party that need to change. Plenty of ways the government has been screwing over the average American for years. But it absolutely pales in comparison to what trump and co are doing.

So what's the end goal of the GOP's latest push to convince us that slavery "wasn't that bad"? Just a distraction from Epstein? Or softening us up for when they use the kidnapped immigrants for slave labor on failing farms? Or both?

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." Desmond Tutu

"Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." Elie Wiesel

The attempts at generating a false equivalency between the Biden administration and the Trump (particularly the second) administration are laughable.

Your post is so important. The GOP is already using tactics embedded in their immigration “policy” to enable slave labor.

They have proposed allowing farmers (which will extend to other labor sectors) to be their own “police” when it comes to employing illegal immigrants. How exactly does this work when an illegal immigrant is under/not paid or subject to unsafe labor conditions? To whom do they complain? Do they bring it up to the person who didn’t pay them correctly but w one phone call has them detained?

Interesting that back when Republicans approved of the amendment to end slavery, they made sure it didn't include prisoners. My guess is that Democrats liked that part of it, too.

13th Amendment: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Oh, IDK, are you up in arms about the FBI raiding Bolton's home looking for classified documents?

We're they looking for classified documents or was this an attempt to target a political opponent? Did the government suspect Bolton had something and as him to return them, only raiding his home when he refused or was this out of thin air?

Personally, yes I am up in arms about it. I am not fan of the dude but he has every right to be critical of the administration. And honestly he has a very unique insight into this administration due to his involvement in the last one. This looks a lot like political intimidation and that is wrong no matter the administration in charge or the target.

How about just answer the question.

If the FBI has probable cause and got a search warrant signed by a judge to look for classified documents, I’m perfectly fine with it.

Just like I was when the FBI had probable cause that Trump had classified documents, got a search warrant signed by a judge and raided his home.

You know….due process and stuff.

Now how about you just give a straight succinct answer to my question like I did yours.

Were you equally up in arms over the raid on Mar-A-Lago?
What about Biden's garage?

The greatest threat is/was the persecution of a political opponent for political gain....
Dodge, dodge, dodge.

We all know what we were talking about regarding the false equivalency.

I respected you enough to directly and fully answer your question.

How about you do the same.
