Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who has a discharge petition that would require the release of Epstein-related documents, is undeterred and warning that support for his effort will only be bigger when Congress returns in September. US-funded contraceptives for poor nations to be burned in France, sources say reuters

  • Contraceptives held in warehouse since Trump froze foreign aid
  • Dozens of truckloads due to be taken to France for incineration
  • UN offered to buy them but no agreement reached
  • NGOs warn lack of contraception will increase unsafe abortions
From the article:

The supplies, worth $9.7 million, are due to expire between April 2027 and September 2031, according to an internal document listing the warehouse stocks and verified by three sources.

I’m sorry, but you have at least two years to figure out a way to distribute these. Burning them is utter bullspit.

Giving them away is cheaper than destroying them.

So much for reducing government waste. Spend a bunch of money on something. Decide we don't need or want it. Pay to destroy it.

They aren't destroying them to save money. They are destroying them for political gain.

What's the political gain in destroying them? Biden did it so Trump is gonna do the opposite just because? Its a weird and really awful political statement to make.

We've had the same thing in Oklahoma still going after 50+ years now.

In some conservative’s minds, contraceptives = enabling premarital sex. Providing them to foreign countries = the US supporting premarital sex. Therefore, destroying these = putting a giant purity ring around the globe.

If there is anything that prevents horny teenagers from having sex, its a lack of available condoms.
