US continues to go backward...

Trump on Texas floods that killed more than 100 people and counting: "Their response has been incredible ... I think a lot of lives have been saved. As bad as it was, you could've lost double or triple. Congratulations on a great job."

Possibly the most rage-inducing story in recent memory.
Reminder: Texas deployed 1000 feet of buoys wrapped in razor wire near Eagle Pass at a cost $850,000, so asylum seekers died trying to cross the river. TX was sued for that inhumane project, and spent another $1,000,000 on expert contracts to defend its actions.

The flood detection system upgrades the Kerr county was begging for was also $1,000,000.

Have you seen any evidence that FEMA funding had anything to do with this? I have read anything about that.
And the river has flooded numerous times int the past, so no I don’t think people taking climate change more seriously is the issue.
As for early warning detection…perhaps, but even locals are saying that wasn’t the issue. It is proper and reasonable to do a post-Morten on the tragedy and look for ways to insure this does not occur again (my guess is they do install an early warning detection.)

But even if all three of the above were true… it is still revolting that deranged people tweets “it’s not awful, it’s what Texas deserves”, or “cry harder. Texas deserves it”; or “I’m kinda happy the National Weather Service gave incorrect predictions. Texas deserves the flooding”

I understand you have a visceral hate for Trump and I assume the people tweeting do as well. But just because Trump makes people pissed off by being bad, does not any shape or way justify cruelty and being disgusting. How is celebrating deaths of 80 innocent Texans for something that is an act of God a way to show anger towards Trump?
I never justified it. Not once. Nobody here is justifying it.

You know what the tragedy is? Children have lost their lives because the adults failed them miserably. Across the board.

This is no different than Rob rushing to post stories about people getting hurt or killed by immigrants. Yet I don't see you lambasting him for politicizing deaths.

Is this your first time meeting DARVO?

I was referring to the tweets. Just because Trump is a bad person does not, in any form, provide any logical reason to blame people just because they live in TX or be happy TX is flooding. There is zero “root cause” for the tweets.

You responded to me and the statement I made was about you and steross. You sidestepped and evaded the comment I made directly to you.

Immigration

I thought we needed to shut down the flow of people across the border. We've done that.

I think ICE needs to do its basic function. I'm not sure why it needs military-like funding.

I want the Constitution upheld and that means due process and equal protection. Yes, it will take forever. That is the problem that we have. But it isn't worth compromising those bedrock principles of due process and equal protection for the sake of expediency. We can't fly people out to other countries, even if it's their country of origin, without due process. We just can't.

It's time for the right to admit it, there are large segments of our economy that are dependent on undocumented workers. If we deport all of them we kneecap our economy. Republicans need to stop the rhetoric, admit this, and start working on a solution. There are very good political reasons for doing this, I might add.

The anti-ICE rhetoric from the left needs to stop. Someone is going to get killed.

All of it is meaningless unless we fix our broken immigration system and improve mechanisms for people that we want to get into the country and keep out people that we don't want. But both parties would rather play politics with it.

First, the reply you are making now is from a different reply to another poster.

Second, your original comment was that if I “thought Steross was celebrating the tragedy then I was a blind fool”. I didn’t sidestep anything. Honestly, I thought you must not have read the thread. What specific comment did I make that you could interpret that…or are you going to sidestep that? It was obvious I was talking about the people making the tweets that I included in my original post.

To help you, I provided another example in my reply to you. If you don’t think those people tweeting were celebrating a tragedy then you are the blind fool.

Since you ask:
OMG. There is ZERO root cause for celebrating a tragedy that killed 68 innocent souls. And ZERO cause to defend such filth.

Random people? Ron Filipkowski is posted on here all the time. He has 1M followers on Twitter and is the owner of MediasTouch. MediasTouch is the #1 podcast in the US.

C’mon Steross — you are better that this.
You are a blind fool.

Since you ask:

You are a blind fool.
Yep that is correct. That is what I said: Because there is zero root cause because politics was not part of the tragedy. Cheering the floods and the subsequent deaths of people just because they live in a red-state is grotesque. And there is zero reason to defend the reasoning for the filth.

***Please don’t tell me that is the specific comment that you are claiming that I said another poster was celebrating the tragedy.
