US continues to go backward...

A bunch of republicans are really losing their shizz over someone winning a primary in a city nowhere near their jurisdiction.

And let's be honest. It was a ranked choice vote so basically it was Cuomo vs the field. I don't know enough about the dude to say I would have ranked him first on my ballot but there is a 100% chance I have him somewhere on it and do not include the former governor. And a majority of voters felt the same way.

I know he is a comedian, but what he is pointing out is extremely dangerous. We must stop our politicians from outright lying to the people like this.

I don't like Sean Hannity, but I think a lot of people might consider "Free abortion on demand" to be an extreme view. I am opposed to abortion because of deeply held religious beliefs, but what happened to the Bill Clinton Democrats, that said "abortion should be safe, legal, and rare"?
Abortion would be more safe, legal and rare, if red states didn't ban nearly all abortion, forcing abortion rates to go up in blue states where it's legal.

I'd much sooner see proclamations of free birthing in hospitals and subsidized child care. It would address concerns that it's too expensive to have children, so the birth rate is headed down. I'd like to see if Republicans would condemn that as extreme even though they are ways for the government to be pro-life and pro-family. If those two things commonly go on in most civilized countries, it's not really extreme.

I think you are making a differentiation that doesn't need to exist.

There are many countries, particularly in Europe, that have abortion, most often free, and "on demand" yet have appropriate education for women, family planning, and readily available contraception. These countries tend to have very low abortion rates.

Free abortion and contraception on demand if combined with education, contraception, and empowering women appears to be a pretty potent force in lowering abortion rates and making it "safe, legal, and rare."

Colorado several years ago made long action contraception available and cut the teen pregnancy and abortion rates in half.

Report highlights

The CFPI has empowered thousands of Colorado women to choose when and whether to start a family. Thanks in large part to the Colorado Family Planning Initiative:

  • The teen birth rate was nearly cut in half.
  • The teen abortion rate was nearly cut in half.
  • Births to women without a high school education fell 38 percent.
  • Second and higher-order births to teens were cut by 57 percent.
  • The birth rate among young women ages 20-24 was cut by 20 percent.
  • The average age of first birth increased by 1.2 years among all women.
  • Rapid repeat births declined by 12 percent among all women.
  • Costs avoided: $66.1-$69.6 million.

Ha, dream on dream weaver. Trump can outright lie or spout ignorance unrelated to the truth just as much as he wants to with no pushback even when he makes outrageously false statements. For proof, hear him say as of June 27, that gas is down close to $2 in a lot of places in the video starting at 37:30. He also claims to even have it seen break $2 at $1.98 gallon just like he said close to 2 months ago. Yet there are no moans or gasps from reporters. The average price of gas in the U. S. is still over $3 a gallon at $3.21. In Stillwater the lowest is $2.41 but with ethanol.

Right after that he describes the Fed Chairman he promoted as being stupid and as having Trump Derangement Syndrome. Hopefully, things won't get so bad for the economy that Trump demands and get negative interest rates as a way to get people with savings in the bank to spend their money. You shouldn't be put in a position to wonder if you might as well spend some of your retirement money.
